Default Has anyone ever sold anything on craiglist before?

I just sold a DVD player and the person who is interested wats meet to meet her near her job so I can take her the item. Usually when I sell stuff online I get payments to my paypal account and then I ship the item at the post office.

But in this case since it's local I'm meeting the person at a cafe. Has anyone ever sold this way?

Sold many of my LJN 1980's wrestling action figures. Bought them for 25 cents a piece at a garage sale, and made a huge profit. Many of them are worth $200.00 a piece, and at the least are worth $100.00. Also, this isn't selling, but another way I use to profit off of Craigslist was collecting cans. I use to post under the name "The Can Man," asking people if they had unwanted pop and beer cans to let me know, and I would go and pick them up, so I could make some money. Many responses, and made lots of money. It was time consuming, but I had many good meals because of it. Unfortunately someone made a complaint, and so I'm not able to do it anymore, but I did it for atleast a year. That's about it I think.

Yes, mostly for school textbooks. We meet in a cafe like starbucks or at the school library. Always meet in a public place-- an area that you are comfortable with. I usually have a friend with me.

Yes, I have. In 2007 I sold a vehicle and a piece of furniture through Craigslist and got buyers right away. Surprised at how smoothly it went.

I've sold and purchased furniture and other household items off of craigslist a few times and have sold and purchased fan-related material on Ebay. I prefer craigslist; it's faster, local--does not involve the post office; and it's cash.

That being said, I always have my phone with me and let someone know where I am going and I always have other people in my house when a buyer comes by. I've never had any creepy experiences, but if you have an ick feeling about any part of the deal, don't move forward with it.

I just don't know how to go about receiving money and iving someone their item in public.

I tried to sell stuff, but there were really no buyers and my posts were deleted.

I really hate Craigslist because this is one of the reasons why.

How come they deleted your posts ? What were you trying to sell ?
I noticed a lot of people's posts get flagged for selling animals and
videotapes.

I have that problem with Ebay. Tried many times, but never had any success with the stuff I tried to sell their. Haven't even used it in atleast three years. You get more success from Craigslist though, because typically around 70% of the buyers are local, and can just drop by your home to pick the stuff up. Don't have to deal with shipping and handling, and all that crap.

You pre-identify a place to meet (preferably public and visible) , say "Hi, I'm TV Fact Fan and here is your X". Hand them their purchase when they hand you their cash. No cash, no items. It's easy.
