http://www.soapoperadigest.com/conte...staying-longer
By SOD • Posted: Jul 27, 2011 Digest has learned that SOAPnet isn't going off the airwaves in February, 2012 as originally announced; look for the channel to continue to broadcast for a little bit longer into the new year. Expect to see DAYS OF OUR LIVES still on the schedule. "We're fortunate that SOAPnet picked up the show," says the show's executive producer, Ken Corday. In the meantime, fans have mobilized to try and get another cable channel to pick up the daytime lineups through the "Soaps Coupon Campaign." Head to sudz.tv for more details and to get a coupon. |

I just suggested today an idea that why couldn't the planned new kids channel to replace SoapNet sign off at 8 or 9PM eastern and return at 6AM like Nickelodeon/Nick at Nite. They combine kids shows with adult sitcoms, sometimes very too adult ones.....anyway that way, SoapNet could make a deal to show the online versions of the soaps (if that deal ever happens) and continue with Days and GH.

It'll never work because SOAPNET is a brother channel to ABC meaning they are both owned by Disney. Prospect Park approcahing SOAPNET about running the online version of the show would be like going to ABC in a way. ABC is the one that is dropping these two, unfortunately. |

Huh??? ABC/Disney licensed the shows to a independent production company to continue producing episodes exclusively online, there is nothing stopping ABC/Disney from licensing the online versions which would probably save money for both parties. It would be a win/win for all parties involved, speaking of parties, for both of them, it would be like getting their cake and eating it too! The idea keeps loyal viewers while also potentially finding a new younger audience for watching online. |
