They sure "CHOP" up the episodes when running them syndication!! I have had various feeds of coach stored on DVD for years from various syndications. From TBS, WGN, to USA network. So I have become quite familiar with most episodes. After purchasing and watching the retail seasons 1-4 (no chopped) versions. You sure do notice a lot missing from the syndicated telecasts. It is like discovering "deleted scenes" ones your so familiar with the syndicated versions.
Not sure but I think anywhere from 3-5 minutes are missing per episode when syndicated. I recall ABC only having 1 commercial break during each episode during COACH'S original run. Syndicated versions tend to have 2 commercial breaks per episode. Bummer We can only hope fro 5-9 now.

Since 1996 the number of commercials aired during a TV Show has more than
DOUBLED . According to USA TODAY (Ad Glut Turns Viewers Off), in 1996 the average number of Commercials shown was less than 10 minutes an hour, today its over 20 minutes per hour. It's gotten so bad I no longer watch any program on TV, either broadcast or cable. If it isn't on DVD, I will not watch it!

Very interesting statistic!! You can always do what my wife does. She will PVR her favorite programs and deliberately "NOT" watch them live because of commercials. Then when she is ready and at her own pace, she watches them. No need for commercials that way
