New "Tales from the Crypt" Series in Development
New "Tales from the Crypt" TV Series Planned
Source: Deadline July 27, 2011 A new "Tales from the Crypt" is planned for television, Deadline reports, though it will offer a very different take on the property than the one featured in the well-known HBO series that aired 1989 through 1996. Gil Adler, who produced the HBO version will team with "Eureka" co-creator Andrew Cosby to develop the project which, rather than offer an anthology slant, will feature ongoing characters inspired by the original EC Comics from the 1950's. Planned as an hour-long show, "Tales from the Crypt" is being set up to pitch to broadcast and cable networks, though an alternate plan is also being devised that could see the series funded independently before finding a network home. http://www.shocktillyoudrop.com/news...s.php?id=20177 |

If they don't include the Cryptkeeper, in all his cheesy glory, I am out.

It would also be cool to see some of the other hosts like The Vault Keeper and The Old Witch. |

^ I always get scared when I read words like "a very different take", etc. Sometimes the stuff that seems silly in retrospect is really the thing that endeared a work or an experience to the general public.
I hope you are right. "Tales" was a neat little series in an era that was kind of flooded with horror anthologies (many of them also good, imho). |
