Default The Honeymooners Lost Episodes: Complete Restored Series (60th Anniversary Edition)

There has been no announcement so far on TVshowsonDVD.com and there is currently no pre-order listing on Amazon, but today a listing for "The Honeymooners Lost Episodes: Complete Restored Series (60th Anniversary Edition)" was added to the MPI website's "Coming Soon" page with a 10/4/11 release date. This is great news to all of us here that have been waiting for this restored set, here's the link:

Seeing as how they were referenced a lot when the first Color Honeymooners set came out, I'd say there's a pretty good chance they'll be on there, especially since they claim this is going to be "the most complete collection possible." By the way, did you notice that it says "1951-1957" on the box? Looks like the Pert Kelton shows will finally be officially released as well.

So it would probably be best to wait for the complete set than to impulse buy that Best Of set to get the 1955 Stand In for Murder referenced a few threads down?

Now if we could get that 1976 Christmas special........

Now, if MPI can get all of those eight short Color Honeymooners sketches that MPI claims that the Gleason estate won't make available.

I'd say so, unless you want to see that show a couple months early.

They most likely want the complete shows licenced, not just the "Honeymooners" skits.

I hear yeah -- this could be the "classic TV" release of the year!

I watched some of the new "best of" DVD that was released last week. While the quality is still kinescope quality, to me the picture appeared to have some work done on it -- all for the better. The picture didn't have as much flicker in it as before, some sharper images, and the sound even seemed a bit cleaner. I'm hoping to be able to do a side by side from this disc with what is available and see if a difference can be seen. I would guess that MPI used the newly restored prints for this "best of" disc.

And yes, a complete "Stand In For Murder" from 1955 was included as well! A nice hidden surprise!!! (A great bonus on the new set would be if MPI includes Gleason's monologue from the follow week in 1954 when the show was cut off and he tried to explain what happened that the TV audience missed. That would be a great bonus!)

I know it's Ralph Kramden that sells the best, but sometime MPI will be needing to release more Gleason material, so a collection highlighting each of his characters would be nice to see. Then again, maybe a "Best of" volume 1, 2, 3, etc .... I like Joe the Bartender and all, but I'm not sure I could stand a 2 or 3 hour DVD set of just Joe. Nothing against the character, but I think you all know what I mean

Here's hoping that the 1957 remake of "Six Months To Live" has been found and will be included, along with the original version from 1952!!!
