Showbiz 411 is now reporting what Daytime Confidential scooped a ways back — that Prospect Park, the media upstart aiming to afford One Life and All My Kiddies new life online, also has a deal in place to do same with GH, “if” and when that ABC serial finds itself homeless.

Again the soaps are good enough for the net, but not good enough to be broadcast on TV. What a bunch of bullsh*t

Completely agree, this is all started with the shocking announcement that SoapNet would fade away in 2012, announced before the network cancellations. I will never understand that SoapNet was not profitable for Disney....it was just repurposing daily shows and for awhile they were producing originals, the spin off of general hospital called "GH: Nightshift" ran for two sucessful ratings breaking seasons.
If they wanted another silly kids channel (that is what SoapNet is becoming)...why couldn't it still turn to SoapNet at 8PM overnights and still run the network or online episodes? ala Nickelodeon/Nick @ Nite...they combine kids shows with adult sitcoms. as for these soaps going just online from this start-up company, especially with high priced general hospital, the company is just getting the license title of the series. Acclaimed very high priced actors like Maurice Bernard, and especially Tony Geary will never act on a on-line only show.....all the main principles will jump ship.....as it is right now Geary only has to work half the year and he is the highest paid actor in daytime. |
