First Look: Gene Simmons Finally Proposes to Shannon Tweed

Looks like Gene Simmons is finally ready to take the plunge.

The rocker, who has vowed never to get married, all but proposed to longtime girlfriend Shannon Tweed on "Gene Simmons Family Jewels" earlier this month ("We could elope") and wants to make it official on Tuesday's season finale (10/9c, A&E).

"I thought it was time she made an honest man out of me," he explains to their daughter, Sophie, in the exclusive clip below as they check out rings.

He then takes Tweed, who he's been dating for 28 years, to Belize to pop the question. We don't see her answer, but we have a pretty good guess.

Better late than never, I guess!!! I know that pre-Shannon, he had dated both Cher and Diana Ross, but has he ever been married?

Nope, he has always said that he was against the concept of marriage.



In a recent interview he did last year:

"I'm never going to marry anybody. It's an archaic institution; it doesn't work.

If you take a look at it strictly as a business, forget the emotions and the love, it's a failure. The statistics are horrifying. It's a financial model that doesn't work.



You need a cohabitation agreement with individual counsel, so you two decide what the relationship should be, not the government.

And if you don't do that, then when you get divorced, because statistics tell us you will, then somebody other than the mother who gave you life is going to take 50% of your gross pre-tax dollars plus the car, the jewelry, the clothing and the houses.



Anybody I've lived with I've had a cohabitation agreement with, and I've lived with Cher and Diana Ross. And I would urge everybody to do that, especially since women find men with money to be appealing. Whereas we don't care if you have a dime."

In his youth in Israel, Gene (real name Chaim Witz) saw his father desert both
him and his mother, never to see him ever again. This is probably one reason why he had a low view of marriage. Let's hope he's proven wrong about his misgivings of tying the knot with Tweed.

She's been with him for almost 30 years now, so I hope they would both be secure in their relationship. I too hope they do tie the knot.

Yes, he dated Cher in the late 70s after she split with Gregg Allman. Then he in turn dumped her for Diana Ross, who had just recently broken up with actor Ryan O'Neal.

"Family Jewels" fans left hanging by the "will she or won't she?"
Season 6 finale need wonder no longer.

We watched Gene Simmons propose (finally!) to longtime girlfriend Shannon Tweed back in July and now, instead of settling in for the long engagement some may have expected, the reality TV stars have announced that they're tying the knot next month.



The pair have released a wedding invitation, which reveals that the ceremony will take place on October 1st at The Beverly Hills Hotel in Los Angeles, and that there's a dress code.

"Classy Cocktail Attire Requested ... although we know some Rockstar attire will be worn."



The invitation is sent from their kids and contains drawings of the family done by son Nick and a tongue-in-cheek message from daughter Sophie:

"Our Mother will share our horrendous hyphenate of a last name and our Father's life ... well, it doesn't change that much."

The message continues, "There will no longer be a Team Tweed or a Team Simmons but instead a Team Tweed-Simmons."






KISS frontman Simmons and former 'Playboy' model Tweed have been living together since 1985, and their often tempestuous relationship has provided fodder for six seasons of their successful reality TV show.

Fans can expect a front-row seat at the wedding when Season 7 returns.

"Gene Simmons Family Jewels" Season 7 premieres Tuesday, Oct. 4, 9PM ET on A&E.

After nearly 30 years of dating, KISS bassist Gene Simmons wed longtime girlfriend and Playboy Playmate Shannon Tweed, Us Weekly reports.

More than 400 guests attended Saturday's affair in Beverly Hills, including Hugh Hefner and Bill Maher.

The couple met at a party at the Playboy Mansion and have two children together: Sophie, 19, and Nick, 22.



"We've been together 28 years. It's time for me to **** or get off the pot. I know what it feels like not to be with Shannon, and I don't want that feeling again," Simmons told his therapist in an episode of "Gene Simmons Family Jewels".

Simmons, 62, proposed to the Tweed, 54, in Belize with a 24-carat diamond.
