Tracy Wofford Bunn - theories on what happened?

Hi. I couldn't find much discussion on this case (probably because the killer's been identified) and wanted to see if anyone had any theories on what happened.
I couldn't find much on the net other than the name of the killer, Freddy McKinley. Apparently, he was already deceased when he was identified through DNA.

But there are so many unanswered questions:

Was he the local drug dealer speculated about by her sister in the UM segment?

Did the killer act alone?

Was the sexual assault the main motive for murder?

Did she know her killer? (In the segment they state they think so due to lack of signs of a struggle but could this still be the case if he pulled a gun (or other weapon) on her right away?)


Did the boyfriend know anything? He and his cousin both passed a polygraph and were not considered suspects but Tracy's sister speculated that he knew something because he had her car that night and didn't pick her up from work at the agreed upon time, leaving her to walk to a mile to his cousin's house. When she got there, he told her to go on ahead according to her sister who didn't think it was a likely scenario for someone involved with her sister to just 'throw her to the wolves at 12 or 1 am at night'.

If so, was perhaps the stick shift being broken off a ploy to get her out there or just an unfortunate coincidence?

Police estimate there was only about an hour window between the time she arrived at her car at 12:30 am to the time the car was driven into the apartment complex where it would be found at 1:30 am (there was a witness who supposedly saw the car drive in).

Given the above, maybe she wasn't at the car long before being meeting the killer. Maybe someone was waiting for her? Of course this is assuming the above idea which is kind of weak because the boyfriend would have to assume she would go out by herself to the car. Or maybe not... since a lot of this is based on what he told police. Perhaps if this was the case, he convinced her to go out there or even went with her.

Why was she found how she was found (redressed and upright in the front seat of her car) instead of being hidden/discarded?

The segment didn't give the impression she was into drugs (but then UM has often left out information), so if this did in fact involve a local drug dealer perhaps the boyfriend was and this was either some type of retribution or he was party to it somehow?


Or was this simply random - someone noticed her out trying to fix her car at that hour and did her in?

What were the burns on her hands and thighs about? Some kind of torture or coincidental as a result of being placed somewhere or the body being placed somewhere with something that could cause it? I don't know maybe near some kind of heating unit or part of the car? I don't suppose it's possible they were from normal decomposition like the blood settling or something. Anybody have any ideas? Could any part of the car or being placed under it cause that?

Obviously, we'll probably never know the circumstances of her murder and I'm glad her killer was finally identified. But I'd like to see if anybody has theories on what happened.
