Lets say the internet just stopped working, how would you manage? Good?Ok? Bad? Have you become so used to and/or dependent on the net that you would not know what to do without it.

I just went nearly a year without internet access, and I'm still here. I did get by, but it was also the worse year of my life, partially due to having no internet, but mostly for other more serious reasons. Today we're suppose to be getting our internet, cable, and electricity shut off, but I have confidence that I'll get by, I'm definitely not distraught or anything, since Iv'e dealt with this before. Iv'e dealt with alot tougher stuff in my life, so as always, my family and I will certainly get through this. We have incredibly thick skin. It'll take alot more than this to get us down!

Brad,I'm sorry you're getting the electricity turned off,the other things are one thing but a person needs electricity.Personally I think it should be illegal to shut off electricity if a person is short on money for a period of time.

To answer my own question,I would manage fine without the net. Granted it would take a little getting used to however I managed great before the internet was invented, and everyone else seemed to do fine too.I think the internet.wide spread use of computers etc. have their advantages but overall have made things more complicated and have changed many things in the world for the worse. My opinion may be in the minority but I think the internet is very over-rated--at best.

Means alot to both me, and my mom. I agree with you, nobody should be without electricity for innability to pay. We just have to keep the faith that everything will be fine. I'm sure going to miss my friends though. Just got re-united with them, so it's tough to have to leave them again so soon! I truly believe that they have saved my life, and at the least, have kept me out of the mental hospital again in the last three months. My friends are my sanity!

As for the internet, sometimes I think I would be better off without it. I spend too much time on it, that's for sure. On the few occasions I was without it, I went crazy though. lol |

It wouldnt bother me much not to have the internet,or tv and telephone either for that matter. It would give me more time to do things that are more important.

I can live without the internet. I have books and records to fill my time.

^^^^I get alot more out of reading a good book, then reading anything on the internet. There's something alot more natural about reading a book as opposed to reading something, anything off of a computer.--What's also crazy are smartphones(no offense to anyone who likes them),but how much computer access does a person need! It's just not natural or even healthy in my opinion.

I'd be just fine. It would have bothered me a couple of years ago. I can't believe how wrapped up in the internet I was. I still am, but nothing compared to before. I have to remind myself to post here, and this is the only site I post on a regular basis.

Lived about 25 years of my life without it, so would have no problem without it. It's a shame that kids today don't read books.

We've got what seems to be about a million books around the house. We'd be fine.
Actually, I think the worst part would be going back to paying bills by check and mailing the payments. That would feel like a waste of stamps! Paying bills online is very convenient. I'd miss sites like this one most of all. |
