I am just curious why this show ended? I read somewhere that Lucy quit and just retired, but I am not 100% sure that is accurate.

Yes, the show in fact was cancelled. It probably would have been the last season anyway cancelled or not. Lucille Ball was planning on ending the series after the 5th season, but Fred Silverman talked her into a 6th season.

Pretty cool that I Love Lucy, The Lucy Show, and Here's Lucy all ran 6 seasons each. (If you consider TLDCH a separate series)

Too bad they didn't do a farewell episode. I would have loved to see Desi Jr. do a guest spot.
