TLC Orders "All-American Muslim" Series

TLC has ordered a new series that delves into the lives of Muslims living in America.

Look for "All-American Muslim" to follow five families from Dearborn, Michigan, which is home to the largest mosque in the U.S.

"'All-American Muslim' is a perfect fit for TLC, inviting viewers into a world they might not otherwise experience," Amy Winter, general manager of TLC, said in a statement.

"Through these families and their diverse experiences, we will explore how they blend their values and traditions with everyday life in America, providing insight into their culture with care and compassion."

Subjects of the series include sisters Shadia and Suehaila.

Suehaila wears a traditional head scarf and is very active in their community, whereas Shadia is described as having tattoos and piercings and recently wed an Irish Catholic man, who is converting to Islam.

There's also newlywed couple Nadar and Nawal, who are having their first baby and working to strike a balance between their roots and American culture.

The new show debuts in November 2011.

I think that this new show could be very interesting and I will be checking it out. I hope they do a good job with this reality show!
