An idiom a pharse or saying that sounds like something, but really mean something else.... ((or any pharse, as a matter of fact...))
EX: It's raining cats and dogs It doesn't REALLY mean it's raining cats and dogs...lol |

id·i·om [íddee m ] (plural id·i·oms) noun
1. fixed expression with nonliteral meaning: a fixed, distinctive, and often colorful expression whose meaning cannot be understood from the combined meanings of its individual words, for example, "to have somebody in stitches" 2. natural way of using a language: the way of using a particular language that comes naturally to its native speakers and involves both knowledge of its grammar and familiarity with its usage 3. stylistic expression of person or group: the style of expression of a specific individual or group 4. ARTS distinguishing artistic style: the characteristic style of an artist or artistic group Does that help, Karli? LOL |

I am partial to "sticking your foot in your mouth", "kick the bucket", "hogwash", and "horse of a different color."
Also, "sitting on the fence" or "straddling the fence". Oh and who could forget "hitting the nail on the head" "trying to find a needle in a haystack" and "if the shoe fits, wear it" and "fight fire with fire" (that one's also a Metallica song, lol) |

"Horse of a different color." "Once in a blue moon." And I don't know if it counts, but "Whatever floats your boat."

My supervisor at works favorite exclamation is "Bloody Nora!!". He's always screaming that whenever something goes wrong (and things are always going wrong in our office). I wish I knew what the hell a "bloody Nora" is. I've heard of a 'bloody Mary' but never a 'bloody Nora'!!
