Default Roy Halladay leaves the game because of the HEAT?????, BUllSH*T

That mutherF& got ROCKED and the Phillies was down 5-1 and they want to say it was he HEAT that caused him to have a bad game? Why does the ESPN and local media act like Halladay is never supposed to lose? Sick of this sh*T

Boy, what timing on this one... on Sunday, I was telling some friends of mine that Halladay is just about my favorite starting pitcher to watch these days because he's just about the only guy in the majors who can last more than six and two thirds innings any more! And now this????

Halladay has led his league in complete games during each of the past four seasons, completing 9 games in 2008, 2009 and 2010 (plus a league-leading 7 in 2007). No pitcher has completed as many as 10 games in a season since Randy Johnson did it in 1999 (12 CG). I'm so sick of "pitch counts" and "middle relievers". Play the %#@ game already!

CG trivia:

Last guy to pitch 20 CG in a season: Fernando (20 CG) in 1986. (AL was Blyleven w/ 24 CG in 1985)

First guy to lead his league in CG with fewer than 20 was Whitey Ford in 1955 (18 led the AL. Robin Roberts led the NL that year with 26). Spahn led the NL with 18 in 1957.

But... since Halladay is just about the only pitcher in baseball who (at least sometimes) actually finishes what he starts, I gotta give him a break here.

Blaming it on the heat might be aimed at the Cy Young voters, who knows? ("Yeah Halladay had a great year, but remember when he got shelled by the Cubbies?" "What are you talking about? The HEAT got him!!")

The only time most guys last past the 7th inning is if they have no-hitter going

ESPN stated last night that he plays better when the TEMP is under 90 degrees

Hmmm, I'll bet that a LOT of pitchers fall into THAT category!

If the Phillies end up facing a "dome" team in the postseason, whoever they play should crank the stadium temperature up to about 93 degrees, see what happens! Leave the air conditioning off! (Banner: "Pretty hot in here, eh Roy?")

Oh No

I have something for Halladay...

Umpires are dressed-up in 90 Degree Heat and they don't complain! We might as well postpone games once the temperature hits 90 now!

You have to remember that these are baseball players, not football players.
I remember watching the rams practice when it was well over 100 degrees
on the practice field. Football players also play when it is well below 0 degrees. Yet, they are payed less than baseball players, go figure.
