A few tips for making threads and posts more active - Sitcoms Online Message Boards

This is probably common knowledge stuff for most people, but there are a few tricks Iv'e learned over the years for getting more responses to your threads, and posts. one thing I do, is if a thread isn't getting any responses or views, I will change the title of the thread to something that will be more appealing to people. I've done this many many times, and it almost always works. Another thing that you can do, is find threads with 0 responses, and respond to it. When people see a thread with no responses, it's usually because they don't think it'll be too interesting, but when one person replies, they think that it must be a pretty decent thread, and so others will usually post in them as well. These are a couple of my tricks, and I would encourage you all to try them. Any of you have any secrets for making your threads and posts more appealing? Wouldn't it be funny if this thread got no responses? lol!

LOL, this thread had no responses when I read it, so I decided to blaze the trail. In my experience, the threads that get the most responses are: 1) Simple, direct questions that allow people to share what they like/dislike. Ex: What's your favorite restaurant? or What are your pet peeves?; and 2) Debate type threads, especially ones that evoke a lot of passion/anger.

I liked when you went by the screen name of Little Mel.

i like to make polls - threads with polls in them will generate 32% more responses.

also, use statisticts; even if you have to make them up, threads with statistics in them are 32% more likely to generate responses.

Another thing that I like to do is if I start a thread that has potential, but is not getting any responses, I will post multiple times, and make as many points as I can. This way, people will have alot more options on what to quote you on. Just a tip.

The only reason I changed my username, is because of all the nasty things that Mel Gibson has said, and done recentely. My nickname was a tribute to him, that an old friend gave me. I believe wholeheartedly in forgiving everyone, but I will never forget all of the evil things that Mel has said, and done. I don't want to associate myself with someone with that kind of hate in their heart.

I actually try not to post threads like the what was the last movie you watched thread, or the post any random pictures thread. Obviously those are going to get the most responses, and I'm glad someone posts them, as I enjoy responding, but I try to come up with new and original threads that I think have the potential of getting many responses, and the attention of interested members. Sometimes I fall flat on my face, but I'd say atleast 70% of my threads get a decent amount of responses.

Yeah, I still that cartoon picture of Archie Bunker in my head when i think of you (because of your old avatar), lol.

Ha ha ha, yeah, I enjoyed having that avatar. Would still be using it, if I wasn't so crazy about my niece Cyndel right now. The Archie Bunker one will probably be my permanent avatar in the future. I think that avatar, as well as my old Gary Coleman "Whatchoo Talkin Bout Liberal" signature, are the two things I'm most known for here at S.O. lol

I'm glad to see it back up.

I've had my Peter Parker (from the 90s animated Spider-Man series) avatar up for a long time myself now. I think I got it right before I changed over from TVAdam to Adamantium. I like the picture and don't plan on changing it even though now I've got pictures of me on the internet. I don't know if you remember but for the longest time I never posted pictures of myself. It wasn't until months after I got on Facebook that I finally learned how to and let's face it, you gotta have a picture of yourself on Facebook (be it your main pic or somewhere in an album).

Ooh, also. I don't know if I've mentioned this (don't think I have) but I'm going to be an Uncle for the first time soon myself. My sister just told me a couple weeks ago, so I still have some time before I'm an official Uncle but I'm excited about it - Uncle Adam.

I mentioned this since you mentioned your niece.

Thank you.

I admit that it feels good to have the pressure off of giving my mom a grandchild. She wants one so badly and now she'll finally have one.

I've also set up a corner of my DVD room for all my kiddie DVDs I own just for my future niece or nephew. I know they won't care about that for a couple years but you know how people just get eager to do these things.
