None of the other TMTMS cast members were in this - and I didn't really find Mary and Rhoda's daughters all that interesting.

I enjoyed it (I even own the DVD). I guess besides the other cast members not being there, the only downside was that it's kind of depressing. Simply because it's an older Mary and Rhoda.

At least the other cast was mentioned right?

Other than the novelty of seeing the two leads back together, it just didn't work for me.

The whole success of TMTMS was because of the ensemble and there just wasn't one here. The daughters were...OK, but kind of stereotypical, I thought. And there wasn't nearly enough reference to the old cast for my taste. I understand they weren't going to be the focus of the proposed series, but still, for long time fans, it would have been nice to have more of the old characters mentioned.

Kind of a downer, and rather disappointing for me.

Agreed! Every character in the supporting cast of TMTMS brought together one piece of the show, and in it's entirety, it became the show that we all loved and are still talking about today.

Trying to revive that same cohesiveness that the original cast and show had is impossible when even the characters of Mary and Rhoda themselves were different people by then. Mary, recently widowed, Rhoda divorced, both with daughters brought different people to a production. What worked for TMTMS, couldn't work for "Mary and Rhoda" because their own lives had changed so drastically. JMHO.....

It was not that great. Mary seemed old and tired instead of her spunky self and Rhoda was just...eh. I agree that the reason The MTM Show worked was because of the entire cast. I have just started watching the show again through Hulu and Amazon video and I had forgotten how many shows were not centered on Mary. She was involved in the story but Ted, Murray, Lou, Rhoda or Phyllis were the main focus. It was truly and ensemble.

I don't think they were, either. I'd have to defer to Kristen or Leigh Ann on this one.

I thought there was some mention of Brenda in that movie but I can't be sure.

No there wasn't. I can remember that because oddly enough it was a mention of Brenda I wanted the most. Rhoda did say something like "Oh now I sound like ma" or something to that effect but not what happened to Ida.

In my mind, I was always hopeful that at some point after Rhoda ended, Joe had gotten his act together and he remarried Rhoda. After seeing the movie, not only did that NOT happen but Rhoda's next marriage ended in divorce as well. I know she's a fictional character but I don't see why she has such trouble keeping a man, lol.
