Murray was always lost in the shuffle at WJM. He never won a Teddie Award, nor did the actor who played him Gavin Macleod win an Emmy. What are some of your favorite "Murray Moments?" Favorite quotes, scenes, pics anything and everything Murray Slaughter! |

Anything Murray said insulting Ted was hilarious and Gavin McCleod was brilliant. I thought it funny that Murray was originally supposed to be an antagonist to Mary instead of the sweet friend he turned out to be but they liked Gavin's take on him so much they went a different way. Just like with Ted Baxter who was supposed to be a possible love interest for Mary. I just wonder if they had gone that way with those two characters if the show would have been as good. I could see some romantic comedy with Mary and Ted. He was originally supposed to be a decent anchorman and tall, dark and handsome. I could also see in that situation being protective of Mary if Murray gave her a hard time.

Yeah I loved Murray, the show's "everyman". He didn't have the power of a Lou or the built in comedy of a Ted but his dry wit and internal longings were very enjoyable to watch. The show would not have worked nearly as well without him, and he was masterfully played by Gavin McLeod.

MARY: That doctor said that those fattening foods are loaded with little cholesterol balls that can eventually block the arteries and stop the flow of blood. He said that kind of cooking could kill a person!
MURRAY: Here Ted, take a pastry! |

Murray was king of the one liners and Gavin McLeod delivered them masterfully. I loved his banters with Ted and SueAnn.

Murray is awesome. I never realized Gavin didn't win an Emmy for him though! Shame, he deserved it. I think my favorite Murray moments are when he insults Ted too. Always so funny.
