Exclamation TNT Cancels Men of a Certain Age

The midlife misadventures of Joe, Owen and Terry have come to an end.

TNT on Friday pulled the plug

It was such a great show, and TNT treated it like crap. No wonder it didn't "build an audience;" they only aired it in five-week spurts before benching it for half a year or so at a time.

I know TNT produces the show, and thus owns it. Even so, what are the chances of the show getting shopped to another network (USA, Showtime)? Slim to nil?

Too smart for TV, I guess.

Today, we lose the best hour-long drama currently on television. This afternoon, TNT announced that they had decided to cancel the low-rated critical darling, Men of a Certain Age. It wasn't unexpected, but it sure struck me hard when I got an email about it while I was out this afternoon. It truly saddens me that this show is now gone forever, and I haven't felt this sad about the cancellation of a show in quite a few years.
Read my full blog entry addressing the cancellation!

Has a cable TV show ever gone from one cable channel to another? We know some have gone network to cable but I can't think of any dramas to go from one cable channel to another off the top of my head. Anyone know of any examples?

Well that mini-series on the Kennedy's was made for Showtime, but when they decided not to air it, Reelz channel did.

Not a drama, but Mystery Science Theater 3000 moved from Comedy Central to Sci-Fi.

That was actually made for The History Channel.

Too bad, I caught an episode of it recently and thought it was pretty good. I liked the 3 main actors a lot, and it had potential. It leaned a BIT toward the "the old guys are out of it and need to get with it" angle, but I would have followed it had it remained on.

What a shame. This was truly a fantastic show. Ray Romano is a better dramatic actor than I realized; better golfer too. I miss the show already.
