Trailer Released for Martin Scorsese's George Harrison Documentary
HBO to Air Martin Scorsese's George Harrison Documentary
by Catherine Lawson posted Jul 14th 2011 It's been announced that HBO is to air Martin Scorsese's new documentary film, George Harrison: Living in the Material World. The film follows the life of The Beatles' lead guitarist from his musical beginnings in Liverpool through his life as a musician, a seeker, a philanthropist and a filmmaker. It weaves together interviews with Harrison and his closest friends, performances, home movies and photographs. Much of the material in the film has never been seen or heard before in public. In a statement, George Lombardo, President, HBO Programming, said: "When Martin Scorsese brings a project to HBO, we all know it is going to be very special, and he has added to that body of work with this monumental film on George Harrison. From rock'n'roll icon to moviemaker, to spiritual seeker and humanitarian, George Harrison was a true renaissance man. This amazing film will illuminate every aspect of Harrison's remarkable, multifaceted life." The film was produced by Scorsese, Harrison's widow Olivia and Nigel Sinclair. Margaret Bodde served as executive producer on the film, which was edited by David Tedeschi, who previously worked with Scorsese on No Direction Home: Bob Dylan. He also edited Scorsese's Rolling Stones concert film Shine a Light. Living in the Material World takes viewers on the musical and spiritual voyage that was George Harrison's life, much of it told in his own words. It includes interviews with Harrison's friends and collaborators, such as Eric Clapton, Terry Gilliam, Eric Idle, Sir George Martin, Paul McCartney, Yoko Ono, Tom Petty, Phil Spector, Ringo Starr and Jackie Stewart. They speak honestly and frankly about George's many talents and contradictions. George Harrison: Living in the Material World will debut in two parts, airing Oct. 5 and 6 on HBO. http://www.aoltv.com/2011/07/14/hbo-...n-documentary/ |

First Trailer for Martin Scorsese's George Harrison: Living in the Material World (VIDEO)
By Aiden Redmond Posted Aug 23rd 2011 Paul and Ringo are still touring like there's no tomorrow, John already got his own documentary, and with the 10-year anniversary of his death in November, it's about time someone did the same for "the quiet Beatle," George Harrison. So who better to tackle the life story of one our greatest musical minds than Martin Scorsese. After working on it for four years and collecting interviews from the likes of Eric Clapton, Yoko Ono, and fellow Beatles Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr, among others, George Harrison: Living in the Material World will chronicle Harrison's life and achievements during and after his time as one of the Fab Four. Tune into HBO on October 5 and 6 to catch the two-part documentary and click through to see the debut trailer for yourselves. http://blog.moviefone.com/2011/08/23...world-trailer/ |
