Default What made this show unrealistic was the father

There is no way in hell that a grown man would put up with being around his girlfriend's father AT HIS PLACE everyday butting into their business. What man you know would have continued having his girlfriend father just show up at his home anytime he wanted to? So basically Jack was too passive to put his foot down and tell Mr. Bradford to Call Before he comes over.

Now I know it was the setup of the show for Mr. Bradford to always be around but it just wasnt' real life for a guy to always have his girl's dad around who was not even his father in law

Solomon, I agree with you 100%! I absolutely hated the Mr. Bradford character.

Default yes he was annoying but im thinking that was the idea

ok it was a bit unrealistic and the jack character was not the same character from threes company, similar but jack tripper threes company was a lot funnier than the later threes a crowd jack tripper.one of the best episodes was the one larry appeared in, this was much more like a threes company storyline than a threes a crowd one .but i don't know bradford grew on me after a bit i think that janet and or terry even furly should have had cameos or guest shots, maybe if the show could have made another season.it flopped because it was too much revamping, too much change from the original idea still loved john ritter but he and joyce dewitt had a better chemistry than mary cadorette.
he should have lived with janet for another season lol.

Annoying is good as an ocassional thing not every episode. Have him as a guest but not a main character.

I don't know. I liked Mr. Bradford. I can imagine how boring the show would be with just Jack and Vicky. Vicky had no personality at all. Pretty to look at but dull.

They could have added another person besides her dad though. That is the one reason I like the Ropers spinoff slightly better

I think the show would have been better if Larry would have stayed on. I think the episode he guest starred in was probably the best one.

In the world of sitcoms you can't take things too seriously I mean c'mon, I think Mr. Bradford being the owner of Jack's Bistro made sense for him as boss to come around and pester Jack for bits of comedy.

I know but I was just highlighting that the show probably didn't catch on because the father played a "ongoing pest" instead of someone who actuallly liked the main character of the show. Even Mr. Roper and Mr. Furley eventually became cool with Jack but the stupid father's sole purpose for being on the show was to annoy jack which isn't high on the entertainment level

^ I guess it's too bad a 2nd season didn't happen maybe Mr. Bradford would've finally given in and been nicer to Jack.

I would have taken Mr. Angelino and Felipe over Mr. Bradford and Ez
