Shia LaBeouf Directing Marilyn Manson?

In what seems at first like one of the oddest match-ups in showbiz history, Transformers: Dark of the Moon star Shia LaBeouf has revealed that he will be directing a documentary about shock-rocker Marilyn Manson in the near future.

LaBeouf has been behind the camera before, directing music videos for rappers Kid Cudi and Cage, and he's spent time at Manson's home recently, so it isn't quite as unlikely as it sounds.

The actor/director hasn't revealed a whole lot about the project yet, but it does seem to be in the works, and we've got some info from him.

As reported by Rolling Stone, the first solid news of the Manson doc came during Shia's appearance on "Live With Regis and Kelly", where he told co-host Kelly Ripa that he'd recently hung out with the Spooky One at his West Hollywood abode.

During that visit, the two discussed the idea of a behind-the-scenes film about the making of his upcoming eighth studio album, which is still untitled and shrouded in mystery (he's only revealed a tiny clip of a still-unnamed single), but rumored to drop later this year.

LaBeouf didn't say if the project was ready to roll or if it's just in the planning phase, but he did talk about the experience of visiting Manson for the first time.

"He's a real sweet guy," he revealed, "an eccentric human being. He lives in West Hollywood above a liquor store."

When he arrived, he was surprised to discover that "there are no lights in the room... and there are these big metal doors, and he opens the door, and he's in a kimono, a big pink kimono. It's sort of like a lair. No lights, so you have to use your cell phone to guide you around."

Shia couldn't share too many details about the documentary, but he did say that the pair "sat and watched movies a bunch and talked about what kind of visuals he wanted on his album, which are all really eccentric ideas."

He explained that he couldn't discuss the ideas on the talk show, "because this is morning television." Ripa then revealed her Manson-mania to LaBeouf, saying "if you need me to carry equipment, I will show up... I will wear a kimono, whatever!"
