Confused Whoa! Wait A Doggone Minute! Bob Newhart NEVER Won An Emmy?!?

I just read something where the creators of NCIS are hoping Bob Newhart gets nominated and win an emmy for his guest starring stint on that show. You mean to tell me he never won an emmy as Bob Hartley or for Newhart ever?!?

I have to admit, I am shocked to hear this! Was he at least nominated a few times?

He was nominated three times for Newhart (the 80s show) and for a guest spot on ER. There may have been more but I'm not sure.

I looked it up. Three nominations as Dick Loudon, zip as Bob Hartley. He was also nominated for a writing Emmy for the first Bob Newhart Show (which was more like a variety show, I guess) in 1961 and as Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Miniseries or a Movie for The Librarian: The Curse of the Judas Chalice in 2008.

It is indeed insane!! However, Suzanne Pleshette snagged two Emmy nominations for her portrayal of Emily Hartley.

Did any actors actually win for TBNHS?

With the exception of Suzanne Pleshette, none of the other actors on the show were nominated. The show itself was up for a Best Comedy Emmy in 1977, but lost to The Mary Tyler Moore Show.

That sinks, this show was great. Bob Newhart is one of my favorite old time actors. He should have won just for the thanksgiving ep where they got drunk and ordered chinese food.

"More goo to go!!!" That is one of the funniest episodes in sitcom history - hands down. I wish TV stations nationwide would air that episode and WKRP's "Turkeys Away" back to back every Thanksgiving. What a treat that would be.

Does anyone know whether they have an Emmy for Lifetime Achievement or something like that?

Bob should definitely have one of those, if they do.

If I could vote, I would definitely vote for an Emmy for Bob on that NCIS episode. BTW, I think it's one of the NCIS episodes from Season 9 that has not yet been shown for a 2nd time. Thank goodness, I recorded it on its airing this past winter, and haven't deleted it by mistake.
