Disney Plans Their Next Ride-Based Film - Matterhorn Mountain
Disney High on Film Inspired by Matterhorn Ride
By Harley W. Lond Posted Jun 30th 2011 In the case of Pirates of the Caribbean, the ride made into a film idea worked remarkably well. The four films in the franchise have brought in $3.7 billion worldwide. A previous outing at cashing in on a ride, 2003's The Haunted Mansion, while not a flop, wasn't the blockbuter the studio had hoped for. Now the studio is developing an adventure movie project inspired by the Disneyland Matterhorn attraction, a bobsled-type ride that opened in 1959 and has consistently been one of the park's major attractions. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the idea behind he film, which has the working title "The Hill", is to do a fast-paced thriller about five young adventure seekers who are called to the top of the mountain and encounter a Yetis on the way down. (three automatronic Abominable Snowmen -- Yetis -- who growl at riders, were added to the Matterhorn in 1978). Jason Dean Hall has been tapped to pen the script. Disney, of course, is not stopping here: - They're developing another Haunted Mansion film with Guillermo del Toro - They're rebooting 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea -- a Disney film turned into a ride -- with David Fincher - They're working on a Magic Kingdom movie , which is set in the theme park, with writer Michael Chabon and director Jon Favreau http://blog.moviefone.com/2011/06/30...tterhorn-ride/ |

I'm a sucker for anything yeti/bigfoot so I'll probably watch it.

Disneyworld's Matterhorn the Basis for Supernatural 'The Hill'
Monday, August 29, 2011 By: MrDisgusting Disney has officially hired Jason Dean Hall to write a script for the project, which has a working title of The Hill. The idea is to do a thrilling, fast-paced movie centering on five young adventure seekers who, for mysterious reasons, are called to the top of the mountain and encounter a Yetis on the journey down. There's said to be a supernatural twist. http://www.bloody-disgusting.com/news/26097 |

The Matterhorn already scared me when I was a kid and rode the ride at Disneyland. I don't need a movie thriller to remind me of my bad experience!!

I went to Disneyland once back in 1995 and at the time I was there the ride had a two hour wait. These were the days before FastPass. I rode all the other "mountains" except this one. |
