Default Just Watched Buffy the Vampire Slayer...

I've been a fan of the TV series since December of 2007 when I blind bought the entire series. I was never all that interested in seeing the film but it was always cheap and I decided to make my collection complete, I'll buy it. So I bought it for myself at Christmas and I just popped it in last night.

The movie is kind of boring and not all that entertaining. I've seen worse films but this one just didn't do anything for me. There weren't any cool fight scenes. All the ones they had just seemed slow and off.

The show is 100 percent better than the movie and if I had seen the movie first, I may never have given the show a chance. Glad I saw them in reverse.

I too saw the movie fairly recently when I bought the DVD from the local supermarket discout bin.

What I like about the movie is that this was the film debut, or early work, for a lot of famous people and it was cool to see how they started out in the biz:

Hilary Swank
David Arquette
Tom Jane
Ben Affleck for like 3 seconds

I liked Paul Reubens performance. Everyone's used to Pee-Wee and this role is nothing like that. A lot of people seem to like his death scene but it was a little overboard.

I enjoy Donald Sutherland in a lot of things but his role as 'The Watcher' was too dull here.

Stephen Root was good though his part was small.

But yeah, the movie was very campy so you have to have an appreciation for those kind of films in order to enjoy it.

Yeah the fight sequences (what passed for fight sequences) was horrible.

Yeah, now that you mention it, Stephen Root was my favorite part of the movie. Of course I love him on NewsRadio and Office Space and this was no exception. Paul Reubens was good, too. It was nice to see him break away from Pee-wee, even if I love him as Pee-wee.

I guess I was just expecting something bigger since the show was so good and with Joss Whedon as the writer, I expected more from that aspect as well. Although I believe Whedon's stated that they took his script and messed with it, so I guess it's not his fault.

I'm still glad I saw it but it wasn't a good movie.

My friend got my into the series last year and then a couple weeks ago we watched the movie. We are still trying to decide as to whether or not the movie was supposed to be a joke. I did like seeing Pee Wee Hermann though lol.

The film was suppose to be like the series eventually would be, that's how Joss Whedon wrote it. However, someone did an uncredited rewrite and turned the movie into a comedy. When the WB approached Whedon about doing a series he decided to do Buffy as he originally intended.
