WASHINGTON | Mon Jun 27, 2011 5:14pm EDT WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Airport security officers at the Northwest Florida Regional Airport "did not require" a 95-year-old woman to remove her adult diaper, the Transportation Security Administration said on Monday. "While every person and item must be screened before entering the secure boarding area, TSA works with passengers to resolve security alarms in a respectful and sensitive manner," TSA Spokesman Greg Soule said in an email to Reuters. "We have reviewed the circumstances involving this screening and determined that our officers acted professionally, according to proper procedure and did not require this passenger to remove an adult diaper." Over the weekend, social media sites such as Twitter were ablaze with talk about the incident, including claims that the woman was suffering from Leukemia. Jean Weber, the woman's daughter, said on CNN that TSA agents would not clear her mother because the diaper had a wet substance. Weber said her only options were to retrieve a new diaper from her luggage or to miss the flight. Weber said that the agents did perform their jobs professionally. The TSA said various options were provided to the woman and her daughter during a private screening, but declined to offer more details saying the agency wanted to respect the woman's privacy. I know - we have drunk/cussing pilots, air traffic controllers asleep on the job or watching movies, security is a joke...in their own way, TSA and the airlines are almost as scary as terrorists!!!!!!

Wow, it's sad who they stop and scrutinize.
Hopefully they won't stop me when I fly later this year. I'll do what they ask though. It's just easier than missing a flight. |

Sometimes the way we treat the elderly is a crying shame. This lady deserves to be treated with dignity and respect, not like this. Also, the people in the article who refer to her bladder control devise as an 'adult diaper' showed bad taste.

I'm sure that terminally ill 95-year-old women are a potential national security threat.

While they were busy frisking that old lady, the guy wearing the turbin
and carrying an assault rifle and a ticking package waltzed right past. |

concentrate on focusing on the right people who are terrorists. Of course, if we did that, the ACLU would be up in arms(mock concern). |
