In watching the show I have thought that they really missed an opportunity with the Andy Rivers character. He and Mary went out a few times and I could see them together. He was tall, good looking and a nice guy. He was only on about 5 episodes. I think they should have made him more of a regular. There could have been some romantic comedy involved.

Yes I always felt there was more potential in that character too.

I agree 100%, but in my opinion, I think the writers wanted to keep her completely single the entire series.

Yeah I think so but that makes me wonder, it was said that originally Ted was supposed to be a love interest for Mary. They were looking for an actor who was younger, tall, dark and handsome but jumped at the chance to get Ted Knight after he auditioned. I don't know what they had in mind for a relationship with Mary and Ted but it was supposed to be on going, I think. They could have done that with Andy.

Oh, I agree, I just think once the cast was set, they took the show into a whole new direction. |

Yeah, that's true. It seemed to work better with her not having a serious relationship.

Yes, but I do think they should've laid the ground work in the finale to have Mary at least meet the man of her dreams. |

Plus, the actor who played Andy, John Gabriel, moved to NYC in 1975 to star in the then-brand new ABC soap opera, Ryan's Hope. Mr. Gabriel played the role of Dr. Seneca Beaulac on RH for over a decade and garnered an Emmy nomination in the process. The last photo was taken in 2010 with RH co-star Kelli Maroney.
