Why do so many people think that if you're unattractive, you can't sing good - Sitcoms Online Message Boards

Paul Potts, or Susan Boyle? I always find it so funny how people react to Paul Potts, and Susan Boyle. Everybody acts like it's such a shock that they can be good singers, and why? What does a person being unattractive have to do with whether or not they can sing? Part of the reason that most music today is such garbage is because the criteria not only comes down to your voice, but also whether or not you look like a freaking supermodel. MTV and VH1 are the biggest reason why most of today's music absolutely sucks because that's when image became even more important then whether a person could actually sing. Just look at Justin Bieber, and my point is proven. I would ask all those people who laughed at Paul and Susan, if they also laughed at Aretha Franklin, Janis Joplin, Elton John, and Carole King the first time they heard them sing? All three of these women aren't very attractive, but all three of them were voted on VH1 to be three of the top 10 female singers of all time. Franklin coming in first, and Joplin coming in at third. I just don't get some people. Back when music was awesome in the 50's 60's, and 70's, Image didn't matter at all, because there was no MTV, or VH1. Truthfully many of the singers and groups back then were what most people consider unattractive. Anyway, I got off track there. Below are two links, one of Paul Potts, and another of Susan Boyle. Unattractive and average looking people probably make up atleast 70% of the world's population. If you think about it, it's absolutely obsurd, because in the old days all that mattered was your voice, and now were only getting 30% of the musical options that we had in the old days. Can you imaging how much better music would be if that 70% was given a chance. It makes me sad, because there is probably some homely looking woman who, if given the chance, could be the next Aretha Franklin. There may be an average looking guy who would be the next Elvis, but that will never happen, because They're discriminated against, and nobody will even give them a chance. It makes me so freaking mad.
