Lightbulb an idea for TV Land

Years ago before there was a TV Land, Nick@Night had Nick@Nite "overnight" where they had their own lineup. Rather than show then same shows they ran earlier in the evening as they pretty much do on their overnight now.

TV Land should create an "overnight" TV Land featuring a variety of shows that were offbeat and such for those of us who do watch tv at say 2:30am.

They could air such shows as Fridays ( ABC's answer to Saturday Nite Live ) , Fernwood 2night, Alan Thicke's long forgotten show Thicke of the Nite, even Mary Hartman Mary Hartman and Soap.
You can even bring back those Dean Martin roasts or the Smothers Brothers show too.

Some of the most funniest moments I have seen on tv came from a lot of those shows.

Another show that deserves mention is Playboy After Dark. There were 2 versions of it from both the late 50s and late 60s
that aired on many tv stations late at night.

The Movie Channel recently aired a film bio on Hugh Hefner and they showed quite a few scenes of this show- very interesting !!

The show was nothing more than a party in progress only you are there thanks to tv. You see stars like Sammy Davis Jr. and Jerry Lewis shooting a game of pool, and thats all they do. Not plugging their latest project or whatever, just playing a simple game of pool only you are watching.

Stars gathering around Hugh talking and joking about whats going on. Music stars doing their latest hits while the many of stars and other guest dance in Hugh's living room , the set looks just like a living room.

years ago I saw a tape of a full actual show that had Milton Berle, Jerry Lewis, Shari Lewis and Lamb chop, and many other stars just chatting with Hugh, having fun. Many were even dancing to acid rock music thanks toIron Butterfly. Just like going to a 60s cocktail party, only you are there thanks to television. Heck from what I remember you are even "offered" a drink and/or cigarette. Very 60s !!!

TV Land or even Comedy Central should bring this show back , even if they stick it early mornings on the weekend. Very unusual show.

I think you have an interesting idea there.
Personally considering how TPTB have treated the line-up
on N@N I wouldn't think it would fly with them.

Cool idea! I think they should show some of those old variety shows from the 50s-70s. I'm not sure how they'd fly with mainstream audiences considering all the singing and dancing some of them did, but it's kitchy and would be cool to see on TV again.
