Default Disturbing Updates where you find out the criminal is now free

I was watching the new version of UM the other day where I saw an update of the episode where a cop was shot when he was serving a warrant in a game room/bar. For some unknown reason a guy in the back who was not the intended person of interest ambushed the cops demanded there weapons and began to fire and critically wounding an officer. I belive he was new to the job at the time and his name was Kevin Arnold (not from the wonder years) Anyway the new update showed how he was apprehended when he was loitering in NYC his prints were run and he was sentence and sereved a 12 year sentence. This is a totally absurd amount of time considering the crime. IMO he should still be behind bars, and it really hits home since he was found in NYC and probablly now back on the streets going to commit another crime. Another case was the episode of the Pet store clerk(drawing a blank on his name since I have not seen the episode in a while) he killed a girl was sent to a min security prison escaped and once he was caught served only 3 more years and has since been released. Alot of these updates are very disturbing and often make you wonder about our justice system. I am sure there are others but those 2 stand out.

Paul Stamper (sp?). I just heard this week on the Farina version that he's been released. I find it shocking. The guy is a scumbag and should not be out free.

Remember that UM doesn't always present things as they are; not every case is as iron-clad as they might have you believe.

The one that stands out in my mind the most is that piece of trash who killed his girlfriend and hid her under the bed in her mom's house for her to find a few days later. I can't remember his name, but he got out of prison after six years. That was slap in the face to both her and her grieving mother, and a miscarriage of justice.

The saddest thing footnote is Ive heard her mother has admitted she has become a bitter person since this happened. And I can't blame her.

For those who are believers on here, please say a prayer for that lady that she might find peace and comfort.

Sadly, it has been mentioned that the poor mother, understandably shell-shocked by the incident, fell on hard times and was evicted from her residence. Why on earth should this poor lady have to suffer even more? I truly hope she is doing better now.

Well, for those 2 cases I mentioned, the attempted cop killer and the pervert/killer were both guilty beyond a doubt and should still be rotting away in jail. As far as any others that may be in question the jury is still out. Not too much into the conspiricy theories since UM does a good job at presenting each case and always welcomes the accuser to say their part.

I think Dave Freeman (man who murdered Tim Goode) has been released. So has Bob Hall (who in all probability murdered his wife Kay).

I just saw that update yesterday and I was shocked, ONLY 6 years for murder! Plus wasn't he on the run for years before he was caught?! He practically got away with murder. That just makes this case more sad, and I hope the mother is doing well now.

Only 6 years in prison. Reminds me of the James Donald King segment where he murdered his wife with a rifle in front of her mother and aunt. For first degree murder, he served just 6 years of a life sentence (and a successful escape that lasted a decade) all because of good behavior. He got released, got married again and killed his wife again. But at least he's in jail now.

I didn't know that Paul Stamper was free. That's sickening to think about. But not as sickening as Larry Gibson only serving 3 years in prison for the murder of his toddler son.

That is the one I was thinking of. They also said he was convicted of 2nd degree murder. ??? I'm thinking he must have had a plea bargain.

Eileen Mangold's horrible killer, Frank Smith was found INNOCENT of her murder even though his DNA was found on her.

I mentioned this in another thread awhile ago, how bizarre it was to see cases presented, then have updates given that show the capture, trial, and release of a criminal.

Of course, I know that UM presents cases from a certain point of view, so I don't necessarily think that guys got off easy or whatever. But it's just so jarring because it show's just how old the segments are that Farina and the new version are trying to jazz up and make new.

Greg Webb is another notable one I haven't seen mentioned. He had no damn business being out of prison that soon, think he got like eight years.

And some people wonder why their is a hell, we sure can't seem to carry out justice right.

Way to many violent offenders released in this country who have no business ever seeing the light of day again.
