Anybody else know this??? Bill Daly's character city councilman "Pete Peterson" was supposed to get a spinoff of his own but the networks didn't want to buy it. I never knew that.

I barely remember that character, that might be one reason. Also Daily had a great character on The Bob Newhart Show...or was this before 1972?

It was before the Bob Newhart show, the episode in question aired on March 4th, 1972.

Maybe that's the role that got him cast on TBNS. They were both from MTM Enterprises.

I think you are right Sonny. I thought it was interesting though that Mary Tyler Moore and her then husband Grant Tinker wanted to make this character into another show.
