Name the 10 Best and Worst Speaking Voices of Black People.
Best: 10. Paul Robeson, Jr. 9. Dennis Haysbert 8. Tony Todd 7. Avery Brooks 6. Willard White (an operatic bass who has a speaking voice to match his singing voice) 5. James Earl Jones 4. William Marshall (most famous for playing Blacula) 3. Michael Clarke Duncan 2. Paul Robeson 1. Frank Bruno (his Cockney accent doesn't suit his voice at all; from hearing that deep dark booming bass voice, you'd expect a really authoritative, sort of neutral Mid-Atlantic accent a la Robeson, Marshall, Jones, and Brooks) Other good ones include Tyler James Williams of Everybody Hates Chris (he's 18 now), Ving Rhames, Michael Dorn, James Avery (Uncle Phil from Fresh Prince and the voice of Shredder), and, of course, Morgan Freeman. Why wasn't he on my Top 10, you might ask? I really like my voices kind of stentorian, which defines most of the people on my list; Freeman's voice is a little softer and thinner. Worst (I could only think of 6) 6. Jay-Z (his speaking voice is kind of whiny and quavery) 5. Cuba Gooding, Jr. 4. Walter Payton 3. Jaleel White (his Urkel voice just cracks me up, while his speaking voice is just confusing; it's all high and thin and boyish and unexpected from a man who looks like him; it's the same thing with Walter Payton) 2. Charlie Rangel (this guy can't have been a chain smoker; I suspect he's been digesting a dozen cigarettes a day since childhood) 1. General Larry Platt (reminds me of that drug addict that Dave Chapelle plays; he just sounds so ******** and wispy, it's hilarious; I like him all the same) Chris Rock's voice doesn't even annoy me; it's just pure hilarity. Chris Tucker's comedic voice is kind of grating; his natural voice is fine. I can't think of many black women; there's the operatic mezzo Denyce Graves, who has a very soothing, almost manly voice; similar with Sheryl Lee Ralph. Fantasia Barrino from American Idol has been said to "sound like a 3-year-old pothead). Wanda Sykes is just like Rock and Tucker. She just brings a laugh. ![]() This emoticon is so funny to me, somehow. |

Oh, and I forgot about Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson. Actually, Jesse Jackson's voice isn't bad; his diction is quite sucky though.

This is very bizarre... and minorly offensive and not just because of its topic but because you called someone's voice "********"... plus we have a Chit Chat board for this kind of topic....
