Default How would you rate the classic tv channels?

Off the top of my head I could think of 4 channels that air classic tv: The Hub, Antenna TV, Me-TV and Retro TV. Im not going to include Nick at Nite and TV Land because I think we've talked about them enough on the board.

Now my question is how would rate each of those channels. Which is the best and which is the worst and why? You could judge it by what channels show what shows, If there unedited or not, etc.

I cant really vote because I dont have Retro TV or Me-TV. (On a side note I did email Me-TV about wanting there channel and as of now, no response).

Cool

The only one of those channels I get is Me-TV so that's the only one I can rate. I love the promos they run that star the actors from the shows that air on Me-TV! I enjoy both their morning and evening sitcom blocks. And I like that there willing to adjust their schedule to honor a TV star who has passes on such as this weekends Marshall Dillon/Gunsmoke marathon in memory of James Arness.

I only get Antenna TV and The Hub but I'll take Antenna TV over The Hub even though 2 of my favorites are on The Hub, Happy Days and The Wonder Years. The reason is that on Antenna TV you get somewhat unaired episodes and full credits. No, pop up ads, crunching the end credits etc. Also, I think The Hub shows way too much family stuff. I mean how many times can you watch Dan VS. and Family Game Night?

Well, I only get and only have seen Retro TV. Basically I'm very happy with it. I enjoy the fact that they have many obscure shows not yet available on DVD (It Takes a Thief, Run for your Life, Bold ones, etc). My main issue with them is that they don't show complete runs of most of the shows. I just watched their whole run of Kraft Suspense Theatre and they were missing at least a dozen episodes. Also missing a lot of Alfred Hitchcock hour episodes, just to name a couple. I remember back when they showed Magnum PI they kept showing the same couple of seasons over and over.

I don't get a single one of these new 'classic' oriented networks, and I can't deny I'm pretty envious of those that do. Frankly, it would just be so nice to have one of those channels, to leave the tv-set tuned into throughout the day, from program to program. I miss that curious little pleasantry. The other networks have become so viscerally obnoxious, I can't stand to leave the tv on at all anymore. I just turn the set off, and it stays off, until I sit back and decide to view a dvd.

well, the only two we have are ANTENNA TV and THE HUB and I much prefer ANTENNA TV. I tried to watch "LAVERNE & SHIRLEY" once on THE HUB and never again! because of the scrunched down closing credits, etc.!!

When you commented that which is the bold, I thought you were saying that you didnt understand any of the classic networks and why there were classic networks in the first place. I do think you'll get some of those classic channels one day. I mean I just discovered Retro TV today. Would I would do is call your cable company and just ask them if there going to get any of the channels soon.

I don't get Antenna or Hub and I no longer recognize N@N or TVland as classic tv channels.

I only have The Hub and Antenna TV and definitely prefer Antenna TV. The Hub, has commercial breaks in the wrong places, popups/banners, a channel bug that's unnecessary and credits squeezed to promote other shows. The only things I really don't like with Antenna TV are the movies and programs like Married With Children. Now if only my area could get ME-TV.

I don't get Me-tv yet so I can't rate it. However Antenna tv so far is very good, much better than RTV or The Hub for all the obvious reasons. On a scale of 1-10 with 10 being the best I give Antenna tv an 8. --RTV gets a 4 and The Hub gets a 4 also.

When MeTV first came on nationally, I rated them a 10. The episodes were mostly the uncut versions and the picture quality was very good. Now that they are cutting about 5 minutes out of some of the hour-long shows like Cannon, The Untouchables, and Stagecoach West, I rate them a 5 and don't watch nearly as much.

RTV has not changed their lineup in a long time, they have a lot of commercials in the shows, and the prints are sometimes not very good, so I rate them a 5.

ME-TV was good for the first couple of months, now everything is hacked. Retro is still the best. They air whatever they are given so some shows run complete which is more than you can say for any of the others.

Thats the right one its on Cable. They air mostly kids stuff but, at night its old school tv shows they have Family Ties, Happy Days, Laverne & Shirley, The Wonder Years, Dougie Howser M.D. and Batman and a few old cartoons, Jem, G.I. Joe and the Transformers. Its not bad though they have pop up ads and a channel bug and their editing is about the same as MeTV and Antenna TV.
