JT, 'Chico' ran on NBC.
Anyways, here are some of the popular ABC Series of the 70s: "The Partridge Family" (1970-1974) "Charlie's Angels" (1976-1981) "Taxi" (1978-1983) "Welcome Back, Kotter" (1975-1979) "Mork & Mindy" (1978-1982) "Hart to Hart" (1979-1984, well really 80s) And yes, I agree, ABC Is Da bomb! |

I just realized that ABC had so many good shows in the 70s!!!!!
I'll have to go back to your post about the network rankings for each season and see who reigned supreme!!!! |

Those of you who remember and enjoyed ABC from the 70s should check out www.kinevideo.net . They have for sale the ABC 25th Anniversary party that they aired way back in 1978. All the sitcoms up til that time are featured and more. Even Barry Manilow's open about the history of ABC set to the music of his long forgotten hit Its A Miracle is cool. remember Kaptain Kool & The Kogs ( ? ), they are even in it. Its worth the $20 ( its on two tapes ) plus shipping and such. |

I was reading The Complete Directory to Prime Time Network and Cable TV Shows and I noticed something about ABC. It went on the air in 1948. However, because of the popular shows on rival networks CBS and NBC, it didn't reach number one in the Nielsons until the 1970-71 season. That show was Marcus Welby, M.D.. It would be the only season the show would make it to the top. But it made ABC very popular afterwards, despite the success of CBS's All in the Family and NBC's Sanford and Son. In the mid-70s, ABC really rocked. Successful shows such as Happy Days, Laverne and Shirley, Mork and Mindy, The Love Boat, Charlie's Angels, Fantasy Island, Three's Company, among others dominated the Nielsons for the second half of the decade. ABC was that good.
