I'm a much bigger SVU fan than the original L&O, but I do have to say I have a soft spot for Lennie Briscoe. Mostly b/c I love Jerry Orbach, but also for Lennie's dry sense of humor. Kind of a strange thing to see in a show like L&O, but it worked. As for SVU, my favorite has always been ADA Cabot. I love her tough attitude, and she pretty much seems to win most of her cases. I liked Novak, too, but I still miss Cabot.

Cool

For me it's not one actor that stands out but two. And fittingly they play partners. I'm talking about Kathryn Erbe and Vincent D'Onofrio who play detectives Eames and Goren on Law and Order Criminal Intent.

On L&O it was Jerry Orbach and Sam Waterston. Ater Orbach died, the show wasn't worth much. He was the heart and soul of L&O. On SVU, it's Chris Meloni and Mariska Hargitay . Now that Meloni's leaving, I'm done with SVU. I only watched CI for the first couple of seasons. I could never really get into it.

Oh, yeah, I love Much, too. His wisecracks and his "tough" attitude kind of remind me of Lennie in a way. Plus he and Finn seem to bring a little comic relief to the show, which def. helps w/ the kinds of cases they work with!

Lenny Briscoe and Ed Green on the original. Det. Benson on SVU. I seem to be the only person who enjoyed Jeff Goldblum's short tenure on CI, but I will put that out there as well.

Yes, Munch and Fin are a great team. Back in the mid-1990s, L&O and Homicide: Life on the Street made several crossovers. It turned out that Lennie had once slept with Munch's ex-wife, which made things a bit awkward between them.

I can't pick just one!!!

Jerry Orbach as Lenny Briscoe
Sam Waterston as Jack McCoy
Christopher Noth as Michael Logan
Stephanie March as Alexandra Cabot
Angie Harmon as Abbie Carmichael
Fred Thompson as DA Arthur Branch
Ice T as Finn

With that being said, all the main characters were/are incredible and played by marvelous actors.

Each and every one was memorable in his/her own way.

Michael Moriarty who is a very nice guy IRL. Also, the late great Jerry Orbach are my two faves. If I have to pick a third. I would go with Christopher Noth (Logan...because he was a good cop and smoking hot.)
