The Canadian TV networks have just begun releasing their fall schedules for Sept. 2011. This week the main networks have finalized their new lineups while later this month, many of the various specialty and digital channels will have their lineups out. Those are expected to take effect on or around Aug. 31, when Canadian TV over-the-air stations will make the switch from analog to digital programming. Full details will be given here when they become available, but first the big guns get their turn:
CBC As usual, CBC will offer 100% Canadian content in prime time. Returning series include "Being Erica", "Battle Of The Blades", and another exciting season of "Hockey Night In Canada". Among the new shows is a sitcom with one of the most confusing titles I've ever seen. It's called "Michael, Tuesdays and Thursdays" but it's on Wednesday nights! By the time I figure it out, it will probably end! CBC Fall 2011 Full Episodes Global Global returns under new ownership. Canwest sold the network to the Shaw cable company so now the network and its various specialty channels will be known as Shaw Media. The main network will offer 2 new dramas: "Prime Suspect" from NBC and "A Gifted Man" from CBS. Global has also added 4 new sitcoms: "How To Be A Gentleman" (CBS), "Allen Gregory" (FOX), "I Hate My Teenage Daughter" (FOX), and "Happily Divorced" (TV Land). The returning series make up a strong group which include "The Simpsons", "Family Guy", "Glee", "House", "NCIS", "Survivor", and "The Office". Late nights will bring The Late Late Show With Craig Ferguson. Global Fall 2011 Full Episodes TV Classics Videos (Includes "The Facts Of Life", "Barney Miller", "Maude", "Good Times", and "One Day At A Time".) CTV Canada's most-watched network looks to bring viewers another strong season filled with returning favorites and promising new series highlighted by the much-anticipated Simon Cowell series "The X-Factor". This will add to CTV's powerful reality lineup, which also features "American Idol", "Dancing With The Stars", and "The Amazing Race". Also back are "Hot In Cleveland", "Desperate Housewives", "Grey's Anatomy", and the "CSI" series. New additions will feature the sitcom "Whitney", reality series "The Sing Off", and dramas "Pan Am", "Unforgettable", "Charlie's Angels", "Grimm", and "Once Upon A Time". Also new from CTV will be the launch of their own new network which will be called CTV Two. This will replace all of the former stations of what used to be called A-Channel or just simply A. CTV has promised that CTV Two won't be an afterthought, just getting CTV's leftovers that couldn't fit in their schedule. By providing it with several key series, CTV has made sure that CTV Two will be a force to reckon with on its own. CTV Two will be the new home for "Two And A Half Men", "Mike & Molly", "The Big Bang Theory" (Canada's most watched series), and "America's Next Top Model". New series will feature: "Free Agents", "Up All Night", and "Man Up". CTV and CTV Two will also provide coverage of the 2012 London Summer Olympics. CTV Fall 2011 Full Episodes CTV Two Fall 2011 CITY TV Compared to the others, the small but feisty City-TV tends to come off like Canada's version of the CW, but there is still plenty of good stuff to be found on Canada's 5th major network. New series will include "The Playboy Club", "Revenge", "Terra Nova", "New Girl", and "2 Broke Girls". Returning series include "How I Met Your Mother", "Modern Family", "Parks and Recreation", "Community", "The Middle", and "Happy Endings".
