I always felt sorry for the 8 hours of work on the fish net!
Wow! Mrs. Howell let them cut up her fur coats! I always kind of forget that Ginger's not in any real danger in the cave. I can empathize with Maryann's fear as decoy--wouldn't want that job! I love the scene with the Howells and the pie! I've said this earlier but, again, Denny Miller does a great job--the two characters he plays have similarities (muscle-bound, etc.) but they seem totally distinct! I've heard someone say, "Can Maryann's outfit be any shorter?" Did they wear stuff like that in the 60's (Tongo hiding from gorilla scene)? What do you think about what Tongo does in the end for the sake of his acting career? Do you think Ginger would have done the same? I can't understand how the others wouldn't be more aware of Gilligan's predicament in acting as decoy for the gorilla---very dangerous!!!! What do you think of Tongo's "take them, not me"? Is it justifiable in light of survival or contemptible? Do you think Ginger's comment about Gilligan not knowing the difference between the sexes, even if an exaggeration on her part, is warranted? I always forget that in the scene where Gilligan is able to communicate with Tongo on the slate that it is not really Gilligan's success since Tongo is only pulling their leg the whole time! Once again, Lovey shows no fear (see also Ramoo)--is it bravery? OK--how bad is Tongo? |

It's even funnier when Tongo sees Ginger and goes "Girl! Ooh ooh ooh ooh!" And Gilligan says (embarrassed), "I didn't mean to teach him that!" It's always nice to get these little reminders that Gilligan is not quite as innocent as he appears. Tongo was pretty sly and totally self-centred. He was also not averse to a spot of kidnapping. I think they were well rid of him. He wasn't very trustworthy, and he betrayed them all for the sake of his career which I don't think Ginger would have done. |
