Default Question for people outside the US? People who live in other countries.

It is a simple question, but have television stations in your country been ruined by over-advertising(way to many commercials) like most American tv stations have? Do they show things like pop-up ads,run tv shows 'off the clock',not show ending credits of programs etc. All this just to show more commercials.--All answers from everyone of course are welcome, but I'd especially like to hear what people have to say who do not reside in America.

Cool

I live in Canada and I can tell you that those sorts of things happen here too. One of my biggest frustrations is when they squeeze down the end credits of a show so they show advertising/promos on the top half of the screen.

living in the U.K, we get as many commercials, ads that appear every 15 mins of each show. we probably get as many ads on tv until say the early hours where, it's just one ad then straight back to the show.

Canada does have some limits on Advertising. I've purchased several Bootleg TV Series over the past few years and the best ones I have received were the ones recorded off of Canadian TV Stations. (They begin with the Canadian version of the "V-Chip" rating, which has a little "Maple Leaf" Outline that gives them away). I was in Mexico City once, I noticed their Stations had Commercial Breaks for only three Commercials at a time, but the breaks came about every five minutes.

That is still alot less commercials than American tv stations show nowadays.Commercials every 15 minutes of a show is not too bad. Most commercial tv stations in the US nowadays show commercials every 5-8 minutes or so. Plus in the UK of course you have the commercial free BBC channels.

that is correct- however, the reason why bbc channels don't show ads is because money that would usually come from ads to support the channel comes from taxing people, through the tv licence.

therefore, i'd rather have fewer ads than say no ads and pay for the TV licence.

^^^^That's the difference between tv in the UK and America. UK=people pay for tv via a licence and get zero commercials. --America=alot of people pay for television(cable etc.) and most stations are full of commercials. I understand why you and some other people in the UK may not want to pay for a television licence, but don't feel too bad about it.In the UK you pay alot less for a tv licence than most people in America pay for even basic cable.
