This is TV Land's sixth year on the air. Already they have shown a heck of a lot of old TV shows like Green Acres, Petticoat Junction, Dragnet, Adam-12 among other things. Unfortunately, they don't have the rights to these shows anymore. If TV Land stays the next few years, would it be possible for them to run out of old classic TV shows and shift to 80s and 90s like Nick at Nite is, since the rights to their previous shows expired?

I seriously hope not. That's all we'd need is two Nick at Nite's. Yuck. I think it would be a sad day in TV if suddenly the good classic shows had nowhere to go.

I assume Screen Gems owns the rights to the other shows you mentioned? This does bring up this..who owns the rights to the really old shows like I Married Joan, Bachlor Father, Lucy Show, Car 54, Burns & Allen, ect..? Some of the tapes I have seen for Joan it says "weiss-global" or something like that. They also appeared at the end of Make Room For Daddy too. As far as TV Land going 80s and 90s..that I can see. Though I doubt it will happened but I have seen this idea bounced around in here in the past. What about a mulitiplex of TV Land? There are now several channels of ESPN, VH-1, MTV, CNN and such..why not a TV Land 50's, TV Land 70s, ect... This way folks who love the Beave or Lucy can watch them without stubbling into Cheers or vise versa. It would work !!! |

I hope not either. I like the idea suggested above about having a 50's Tvland, 60's Tvland, 70's Tvland and so on. It is worth looking into....

Dragnet, Adam-12, etc are owned by Universal, but distribution rights belong to Studios USA.
