Default Unsolved Mysteries Cases Connected to Mena?

I am not exactly sure %100 what Mena was or is, but I know it had something to do with the drug trade.
I know the Henry/Ives case is definitely connected to this, and I think maybe also that of Norman Ladner. I have seen a documentary on the unmentionable site on this though I cannot remember more about it.
I wonder if any new information about any of these cases has come to light?
Also, why did the Bizarre Murders set not have the update on the Henry/Ives segment that had Stack doing an interview where it was learned that indeed there was evidence that the boys were murdered???

Mena is a little town in Arkansas. I haven't read up on the Ives/Henry case in many years, but the Mena you're referring to is probably the town. There might have been lots of drug dealing going on in Mena back around the time of the deaths of Ives and Henry.

There is a conspiracy theory that says the CIA had something to do with the drug trade in the region, and other areas as well. If you will recall, Norman Ladner's parents found a home made radio where their son was killed, something that would have been used by drug traffickers.

Actually, an update was included on the box set--in a roundabout way.

The update with RS and Richard Garrett is not on the disc, but if you turn over the actual DVD case and read the segment description on the back, there is a little blurb stating something to the effect of "new evidence suggests the boys' deaths were related to drug trafficking." Why publish this on the back of the box yet omit the story update I have absolutely no idea. I'm thinking it was one of two reasons:

1. Someone at either First Look, Cosgrove, or a third party working on the DVD possessed rather sloppy research skills, didn't realize an update existed until late in the production phase, and merely slapped something on the back in an attempt to cover all bases. This wouldn't surprise me at all, given the segments that actually made it onto that disc set when there are arguably plenty of far more bizarre and interesting ones to choose from. It suggests lazy research, IMO.

2. The update was accidentally omitted from the disc during production, probably due to human error. Perhaps it was intended to be there the entire time and just never made it by mistake.

My guess is they either lifted the segment from the "first run" version of the episode that didn't have an update.

Or, they cut it for timing reasons so they could pack everything on to the DVD.

Neither scenario would surprise me. I have spoken with Cosgrove. It is amazing how little they know about the show compared to the fans on this forum.

I still must wonder if the Ladner case was in some way connected to this in some way??? I know the Ladner case occurred in Picayune, MS, but maybe it still could have been the same people?
