For a hit show, I found it a little odd that ODAAT had so many character that really didn't stick on the show...
Nick Handris Alex Handris David Kane Ginny Wroblicki Francine Webster etc.... |

Nick Handris
Alex Handris David Kane Ginny Wroblicki Francine Webster (Too lazy to Google actors names) One needs to remember, this show went on for like 9 years. The actor who played Nick Handris quit the show to do other things. Alex, the son is played by Glenn Scarpelli stayed on the show another year and was written off. Glenn is my actual last name and I met him because I knew his cousin for a short bit. He is now doing well at whatever he is doing. The actress that played Ginny Wroblicki was disliked by Bonnie Franklin, much the same vein as Linda Lavin disliking Polly Holliday on "Alice". The character of David Kane outlived his usefulness (the idea of the show was the character Ann not needing a husband/man to care for her) and the actor wanting to do other things. I saw him in a movie way back in the 1980's where he played this creepy pederast/child porn photographer and his relationship with a young girl to do his films. He had the same stache and that unique voice of his. Nanette and Shelly were on the show different times. Again, the show changed direction or the actors moved on. Dont forget John Hillerman as Mr. Davenport. Mr. Hillerman is a good actor, but he always seemed a bit creepy for my taste. I don't think it is bad and is actually good and real that people move in and out of people's lives. Relationships change, jobs change, people change, people move on, and people stay. That's life. |
