Default One thing I would have liked to see on Good Times in the later seasons

Once J.J became man of the house and got a real job and had a steady girl, I would have like rto see his BOSS, COWORKER, or GIRLFRIEND to call him JAMES.

Not sure why the writers had his Boss referring to him as J.J. Has anyone ever had their boss call them by their nickname?-lol

They had to call him by his nickname JJ, because that was his regular name on the show....why would his boss call him James Jr.?

Since it was a place of business it would have made more sense for his boss to say Mr. Evans or James

Rerun on What's Happening wasn't called by his real name by his teacher

Same thing with Freddie Boom Boom on WBK

Seriously TVFactFan, regarding to What's Happening, In real life, what teacher would call their student "Rerun", think about it and regarding to WBK, why would anyone, I mean anyone, let alone a licensed teacher call somebody "Freddie Boom Boom", at least "J J" sounds like a regular name to be called on a job or in class.lol

What's wrong with a boss calling his employee "JJ" compared to calling his employee "Rerun" or "Freddie Boom Boom",

Because J.J is still a nickname. It just seem like he never grew up on the show even though he stopped saying dynomite and wearing the blue hat

In order for JJ's boss to call him JJ,....JJ could have filled out the employment application using his legal name James Evans Jr., then after being hired, JJ could have asked his boss to call me JJ, what is wrong with that...now if I asked my boss to call me "rerun" or "freddie boom boom", please run ...

Don't forget Mr. Belding calling Samuel Powers "Screech" on Saved By the Bell.

I guess I was just so used to hearing EVERYBODY refer to him as J.J....I didn't even give it a second thought. Then again, sitcoms didn't seem to make much of an effort to go from calling someone by their Nickname to their full name back in the day.
