Question If You Are Down & Feeling Blue, Is 'All in The Family' Too "Heavy" To Enjoy?

We all know 'AITF' dealt with some serious issues during its run like rape, murder, racism, and so on. If you were looking for a sitcom to cheer you up, would Archie and family be the right fit?

My personal choice would be either Frasier or Seinfeld, but that's probably obvious, right? I guess All In the Family would work for the humor, but I'd be sure and pick a really funny one. I'm sure there were at least some that weren't controversial.

Yeah, I can always find something to laugh at with AITF. And what's more, when I'm down I don't necessarily want pure escapism; often I want something to reflect my own reality, and watching AITF reminds me of my youth; the clothes, the decor, the lingo, the political and social happenings and issues. And of course, Archie reminds me of my own dad, so it all works for me.

As long as its not the serious eps. AITF have some good ones and then the ones you wouldn't want to watch.

IMO...AITF is the perfect pick-me-up.

Part of dealing with lifes tragedies is having the ability to laugh at them. The nice thing about AITF is that it has a spectrum of different episodes to choose from and dealt with real life issues; some extreme and some subtle. It can be therapeudic in a way. There are other shows, if I want just pure comfort television, that I can turn to like Leave it to Beaver, Brady Bunch, etc. All good choices for different situations.

Amen to that Larry! Even some of the more serious episodes had moments of humor.

Not at all. Living in an extremely dysfunctional family, AITF is a perfect remedy. Nine perfect seasons, without a doubt.

It's some eps I wouldn't watch if I was feeling down and blue because I would be looking for an escape and would want to laugh.
