Question Do You Think Actress Janis Hansen Was TOO Sexy to Be Felix Unger's Wife???

I want to preface this by saying I love Tony Randall and his character of Felix, I was just curious if anybody found his "wife" Gloria to be a little too sexy and beautiful to be Felix's wife? Maybe they should've chosen somebody a little more down to earth aka homely? Agree? Disagree?

Nah, they had a nice chemistry. In fact, they were pretty smart in choosing her, as I don't know of any other credits for her. And she did a good job. He was great being jealous about her. I'd hate to have lost that episode of her posing for Playboy and Felix taking it to court. Tony was hilarious!

I think they cast her perfectly. Since Felix was a good-looking, neat and particular guy, it is very reasonable that he would pick a beautiful woman to marry. Plus her sex appeal and good looks provided plenty of fodder for Felix to be jealous of.

No not at all. Its not like Felix was an uggo. He wasnt a matinee idol looking guy, but he wasnt bad looking and I can see them being together with no problem.

I don't know if she was TOO sexy for Felix, but she was beautiful.

Funny how peoples perceptions can vary so greatly!

Janis Hansen really had been a Playboy Bunny early in her career, so it was only natural that this story line would be introduced to The Odd Couple at some point; and, of course, Felix's jealousy is much funnier when you know that there is an actual basis for it in fact. If Gloria was frumpy, his jealousy would have been idiotic. With a beautiful woman in the role, the viewer can understand (dare I say: "relate to"?) Felix's sense of inadequacy. It makes his character both funnier and more loveable at the same time.

I see this casting as a stroke of genius!

She was great for the part. A very pretty girl, so you could understand Gloria's husband being jealous: it was not just Felix' imagination, when he suspected her attracting other guys. And because Felix is pretty cute and elegant himself, they looked like a fine couple.

Janis Hansen was too sexy to be anybody's wife.

I liked Gloria and enjoyed her apperarances, but it was an obvious mismatch. At least Oscar had a realistic looking ex-wife.

In the book "Odd Couple Mania" she said she tried to hide her figure in the audition but something she was wearing fell off.. and that is when they thought she was perfect..

The explanation was "Only Felix Unger would divorce that"!!!

It made perfect sense she was a hot wife... which adds to the jealousy factor as she did catch the eye of another man once.. I wish they might have done another story similar to it..

Gloria Unger made legal history in the state of New York for divorcing her husband on the grounds that "he was a pest".
