They're still doing concerts? Are you going to see 2, 3 or 4 Monkees perform at that concert?

I will be going to the 3rd US show- on June 5th in Pompano Beach, FL. They are doing many songs never or very rarely done in concert (All Of Your Toys, I Don't Think You Know Me, Hard To Believe, etc), and all of the songs from the Head movie. They just finished a small tour of the UK, and were doing over 40 songs per concert!!!
I will be taking my 8 yr old daughter with me, and we cannot wait!!!

I saw them last night in Jacksonville and they were really good. I thought it was worth the money spent. My 40 something year old husband and my 40 something year old self enjoyed it, as did our two teens.

Have fun!!

Saw them last Thursday at the Star Plaza in Indiana and it was a great show. My buddy and I had 5th row seats and they are sounding better than they ever have. When you think that 'back in the day' their first time of playing together was not with gigs in small clubs where they were unknown but with a built in audience and #1 records, they sounded as good as they probably could. However since performing on and off together for now 40+ years, they have honed things and gell so much better musically. They had a 10/15 minute montage of their old Kelloggs and Kool Aid commercials before the show went on. They did all the songs from HEAD except Circle Sky (I know they were doing that one at some point but it appears to have been dropped from the lineup).

I like to people watch and look at the crowd to see what the demographic is as I feel in many ways my generation (I'm 41) is the last that really grew up on the reruns with any consistency. There were kids and adults, many of which I am sure were original fans so it is GREAT to see that this wonderful and fun music is being passed down.

Some of those in the crowd, well that is a different story. Let's just say that any large event can bring the worst out in some people. At one point, Peter was telling a story about one of the songs and these girls kept screaming. He finally told them to shut up and just listen to his story and guaranteed they'd really like it. Bravo Mr. Tork!...and the theatre gave him a rousing round of applause.

Then you have the sea of loons who do nothing but text and take pictures during the show. This is quite the annoying technology trend that I also see at ballgames. The poor security people who are just doing their job and protecting the act onstage have to contend with folks in the crowd who feel the rules don't apply to them and demand to stand by the stage and fill their memory cards up with pictures. With this false sense of entitlement, they get in fights with security and it was funny to see a few adults turn into babbling teens because they weren't getting their way. Having 5th row seats was great for the music and presentation but not so good for the freak show that surrounded it at times. By my observation, I don't think the Monkees got too much of a kick out of it either. I'm all for people enjoying the show but with some it gets to be boarderline intrusive and downright spooky.

However they maintained putting on a class show and were pro's about it all the way. They did a nice selection of hits, album cuts, and for the first time since I've seen them, unreleased songs. Great walk through their catalog for the casual and hardcore fan. If you get a chance, do go and see them. You won't be disappointed!
