Question Would Phyllis Visit Mary In The Hospital?

Hi everyone. I am new. I actually had a couple things I wanted to post about, but was hesitant to register. I didn't want anyone to -- well I don't know if I could explain it. :-/

Anyway, my first thing:

Several years ago, me and a friend were talking (and then later I had the topic with my mother) about the show and it's characters and we got into the topic of if Mary was ever hospitalized. Well my friend said that she doesn't think that Phyllis would have visited Mary b/c of that's just the way she is... (and this is different then if it was like episode "Hi!")

What do you all think?

In Season 1, Mary was hospitalized with tonsilitis (?) and Phyllis was not in that episode.

The only way I could see it was maybe if Mary was in for something serious. Phyllis would go out of guilt, or maybe if Rhoda talked her into it. But otherwise, I think she'd probably be too busy w/ all her social activities and whatnot to bother. And I don't think Mary would mind, LOL!

Well I had to get to work and really couldn't finish my post, but I was trying to say that I meant something real serious like the doctors had no clue what was wrong with her or something. Nothing like in S1.

And our topic was actually post-series related.

LOL -- it's funny you should bring up this topic, MaryFan. I actually have (for years) had a story idea that was post-series and Mary was being hospitalized for something. And as for Phyllis, I didn't really have a part for her, and I still don't. So I don't know if I would add her or not.

You remember the story I am referring to, Kristen? lol

Knowing Phyllis she'd arrange to take Mary home from the hospital and forget.

I can actually see Mary in hospital,Phyllis arriving with all the latest books on

you can conquer sickness through positive thinking or something!

I agree with that answer. Phyllis was ditsy and self-absorbed, but that doesn't mean she had no capacity to care about other people. And after all, she did travel halfway across the country to help console Mary when she lost her job at WJM.

First, ! To answer your question, I think it would depend on what Mary was being hospitalized for. If it was something serious, Phyllis would probably come visit, but if it was just a little "teensy" thing (to quote Mary!), then maybe not...She'd probably send a card or something though.
