Vanity Fair's annual Hollywood issue will reunite the cast and director of the powerful 1980 movie "Ordinary People." After 30 years, Timothy Hutton, Elizabeth McGovern, Mary Tyler Moore, Donald Sutherland, Judd Hirsch and helmer Robert Redford got together for the iconic shoot. Famed photographer Mark Seliger shot the cast, and Patrick Melville did their styling. The issue hits stands next Wednesday.

This was indeed a POWERFUL movie. I first saw it in 1998 in one of my classes in college. Well, we only saw a part of it, but it made me want to see the whole thing. It was great to see Mary Tyler Moore playing totally against type, and seeing newcomer Timothy Hutton win an Oscar for his powerful performance. Everyone in the film was great, and the use of the haunting Canon on D in the score was a nice touch.
That is one GREAT pic. Everyone looks fantastic. Was this before or after Mary's surgery? I'm guessing before, but I just was curious. |

^ That's actually Elizabeth McGovern.
![]() I agree with Monika, though, that was an awesome film. Stunning performances and a wonderful (though difficult) look inside the dynamics of a family. A lot of it rings true, too. They really DON'T make them like this anymore. Heaven knows I wish they would. |

This was a good movie, its just not the one that you watch while at a friend's house or something like that. The first time I saw this was with my boyfriend, right after we had watched Requiem for a Dream. Neither of us k new what it was but, he knew that I liked Mary Tyler Moore, Donald Sutherland and Judd Hirsch and thought that I would like this movie. I did, but the combination of the two movies sorta ruined both our moods for the night. Like I said good movies, they get you thinking and can lead into very interesting discussions, you just have to be prepared to be a bit depressed afterwards.
