Matthew Ashford (Jack Deveraux) to Return to 'Days of Our Lives' - Sitcoms Online Message Boards

'Days of Our Lives' is bring back one its most popular stars to the show: Actor Matthew Ashford will return to 'Days' to play Jack Deveraux.

Jack, a character who has been on and off 'Days' for more than two decades, will be interacting with his wife, Jennifer ... if she hasn't divorced him by the time he reaches Salem.

Ashford shared the news on his Facebook page, posting this note: "I wish to make an announcement. I am happy to report that I will be returning to NBC's 'Days of Our Lives' as the character of Jack Deveraux sometime later this month. [I] do not know any real specifics but look forward to this opportunity to play Jack and work with old and new friends."

During recent episodes, Jennifer (Melissa Reeves) has been falling in love with Dr. Daniel Jonas. Jennifer came home without her husband. Jack, an intrepid reporter, was on an Australian "walkabout" and hadn't been in touch with Jennifer or their children for months.

Jack was a no-show during some pretty big moments in Jennifer's life, like the time she had her heart harvested when she tried to stop a black market organ-donor ring. He didn't even drop an email to Jennifer. With that said, he should have a lot of explaining to do when he finally shows up on Jennifer's doorstep in late June or early July.

I'm happy about this because Matt certainly deserves it, but I can't help but think that the writers will continue to write really bad storylines for Jack and Jennifer. It seems like they are just trying to break them up for good. I might tune in for some of this, but I doubt I'll stick around long; and that's saying a lot, considering that Jack and Jennifer are my all time favorite soap couple.

I'm probably in the minority but I wish Jack would NOT return to Salem. I'm totally into Daniel and Jennifer, their scenes are incredible. I wish TIIC would not ruin this couple. I'm behind Daniel and Jennifer 100%! JMO!!
