Movie New Titanic 3D Poster Released

Titanic to be Re-Released in 3D to Commemorate the 100th Anniversary of the Ship Setting Sail
By John Mitchell
Posted May 19th 2011

Coming soon to a theater near you: A movie you saw on the big screen seven times in 1997.

In honor of the 100th anniversary of the Titanic's doomed maiden voyage, Paramount Pictures and 20th Century Fox are re-releasing James Cameron's 1997 Oscar-winner Titanic on April 6, 2012.

But that's not all! This time around, when Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet set sail, they'll be in 3D.

In a statement, Cameron said:

"There's a whole generation that's never seen 'Titanic' as it was meant to be seen, on the big screen. And this will be 'Titanic' as you've never seen it before, digitally remastered at 4K and painstakingly converted to 3D.

With the emotional power intact and the images more powerful than ever, this will be an epic experience for fans and newcomers alike.
"

Paramount will also be celebrating its 100th anniversary in 2012.

"Paramount has had the pleasure of introducing audiences to some of the all-time classics of cinema during that century of moviemaking and we cannot think of a better way to mark the occasion than with this re-release of 'Titanic'," Brad Grey, chairman and CEO of Paramount Pictures, said.

Titanic is the second-highest-grossing film of all time; the film pulled in over $600 million in the U.S. and $1.2 billion overseas.

Only Avatar, also directed by Cameron, has earned more money in theaters, grossing $750 million domestically for a combined worldwide gross of nearly $2.8 billion.

Oh my God, I'm totally going to see it! It's so sad, but I actually saw it 18 times in the theaters when it originally came out. I'm not exaggerating - I have the ticket stubs to prove it!

Wow, I was a dork.

But I loved that movie - Kate Winslet still is my favorite actress working today. Yeah, the movie was over-hyped, and yeah, I was an obsessive teenager, but I can not pass up this opportunity!

I have a funny story to tell you... since you're a big fan.

I visited Halifax, Nova Scotia back in 2004 and part of the tour was going to Fairview Cemetery where over 100 victims of the Titanic are buried.

The guide led us to a gravestone marked "J. Dawson" that was covered with Titanic memorabila and he explained that this is the grave of a boiler room coal trimmer named Joseph Dawson.

Since everyone saw "J. Dawson" people assumed it's Leonardo DiCaprio's character and the grave has had constant memorabila since.

I don't know what's it's like there now but in the years immiedietely after the movie the grave became a "hotspot".

New Titanic Poster Touting 3D Re-Release Debuts (Photo)
11/15/2011
by Philiana Ng

The official poster for Paramount's 3D re-release of James Cameron's epic romance Titanic has been released.

Titanic will be released on IMAX and in 3D theaters on April 6 and if the one-sheet is any indication, it will add another layer to the experience previously had when the Leonardo DiCaprio-Kate Winslet tearjerker, written and directed by Cameron, first opened in 1997.

At the worldwide box office, the film grossed $1.84 billion.

Titanic 3D Trailer: The Ship of Dreams Now Comes in Three Dimensions
By Christopher Rosen
Posted Nov 16th 2011

One day after Paramount debuted the poster for Titanic 3D, the studio has unveiled the first trailer for the re-release on Facebook, where Titanic fans number 10 million strong.

Will those devotees fall in love all over again with the 3D re-release of the second-highest grossing movie of all-time? You bet your Celine Dion CDs they will!

"I want to share the new 'Titanic' trailer with you guys first," James Cameron reads awkwardly off a cue card at the start of the trailer.

"I hope you enjoy the trailer, and I can't wait for you to experience 'Titanic' like never before, when we release the film in 3D this April. I'm excited to be bringing 'Titanic' back to the big screen again, which is an experience you shouldn't miss."

VERY over-hyped.It gives me a headache.3-D is junk, yeah it may look 'neat' the first 5 minutes or so,but after that your eyes tend to adjust and it actually makes movies look worse. This whole 3-D thing is for children in my opinion.

As much that I am not of movies in 3D I have always been a huge fan of TITANIC and I never got to see it when it was in theaters 14 years ago when it originally was released. For this reason I have decided to give the 3D a chance and see the film in it's purest form yet.
