here's the one from my local paper!!
THE DIVISION (Sunday at 9 p.m. on Lifetime). This cop hour is sometimes so good, it's all the more frustrating when it isn't. As the second season begins, the walking disaster played by Nancy McKeon returns to San Francisco detective work from involuntary rehab, itching to alienate everybody connected to a job she can barely face without alcohol. As Capt. Bonnie Bedelia is pressured by a political new superior, interagency squabbles intrude in murder cases close to the detectives' hearts. Heart is a big thing on Lifetime, which is a good thing, emphasizing inner life over plot machinations. But its prominence so overshadows these cases that they're barely perfunctory. At least this season there's a male partner (Jon Hamm) joining the too-female squad and a shell-shocked rookie (Taraji P. Henson) in contrast to their seen-it-all expertise. "ER" fans also get some dramatic muscle- flexing from "Division" cops Lisa Vidal (Weaver's latest attraction on NBC) and Troy Evans (irascible hospital desk man Frank). |

I'm no "Big City Person" LOL. I live 20 miles south of Boston so I'm close to a big city but I don't live in a big city! LOL! And I already posted my article in my topic but I can post it here 2
The Patriot Ledger Friday, January 4, 2002 Pg 17 McKeon reveals the facts of life on 'The Division' By Bridget Byrne The Associated Press The prop list on the day's call sheet for "The Division" reads "All cast: guns; badges; cell phones; coffee." Yes, it's a cop show-but with a difference. The first five actors listed on that cast sheet are all women: Bonnie Bedelia, Nancy McKeon, Tracry Needham, Lisa Vidal and Taraji Hensen. This Lifetime series about female police officers is billed as an ensemble drama, but the name with the most resonance for television fans is McKeon's. From 1979 to '88, the actress portrayed streetwise Jo Polniaczek, a pleasingly rebellious presence among the schoolgirls of the NBC teen sitcom "The Facts of Life." Now 35, McKeon is portraying another rough diamond, Inspector Jinny Exstead, whose alcohol abuse led to a dramatic intervention on last season's finale. When the second season begins on Sunday Exstead has returned from rehab to the precinct run by Capt. Kate McCafferty (Bedelia). "She's kind of getting reacquainted with the world without the haze, seeing where she fits in...it's a big difference for her, doing things without the aid of substances," McKeon says. McKeon prefers to distance herself from the legacy of Jo. She didn't join the rest of the cast in "The Facts of Life Reunion," an ABC movie which aired in November. The New York-born actress was a child model and actress before the series. Since then, she has remained busy in front of and behind the camera, although with limited success. Before "The Division" CBS gave her a couple of chances at another regular series. "Can't Hurry Love," a sitcom which she also produced, briefly aired in 1995. "Stlye and Substance." Which teamed her with Jean Smart, lasted only a few episodes in 1998. "I never had a plan. I started when I was 2 years old," says McKeon. "I've been blessed to be a working actor my whole life and transitioned from different age to different age," In "The Division" the women try to balance the tough side of their work with the heeds of their personal lives. McKeon did some research, traveling on night patrol with a couple of detectives, able to observe the little details "which you have to see for yourself." She found the real-life officers to have to operate with "a little bit of detachment." "They see a lot of unpleasant things and still have to go home and lead a life and be happy. It's the thin line they walk from being concerned and caring and having to be detached because they have to get up every morning and keep going back" says McKeon. (THERE! Guess what? I HAD TO TYPE IT ALL UP MYSELF! IT WASN'T ON THE WEBSITE SO I TYPED IT! Don't you love me even more now? LOL j/K j/k> WELL ENJOY IT!) |
