TV "Leave it to Beaver" Returning to TV Land on May 28th

"Leave it to Beaver" Returns to TV Land
Tuesday, May 17, 2011
by Pavan

TV Land will bring back "Leave it to Beaver" from a long hiatus starting May 28.

The classic sitcom will air weekend afternoons from 1-3pm, replacing two hours of "The Andy Griffith Show", which will still remain from 3pm-5pm.

The Cleaver family will start from episode one, so you can enjoy it from the beginning if you have missed it not airing on TV Land.

I'm glad to see it return, even with some cuts. It's great to have the complete episodes of any show on DVD but I always end up watching a show more on regular TV than I ever do on the DVDs. It's just somehow more enjoyable.

well since TV LAND will just shred it to ribbons; to quote Rhett Butler "Frankly my dear; I don't give a damn"!

Default TV LAND....

...has a contract with NBC/Universal for the "exclusive rights" to schedule the series on their channel for at least another year. In previous years, that would have been cause for celebration. Not now- the way TV LAND picks and chooses their choices as to which series gets what exposure (especially when they "supersize" them during the day or overnight; that means extra commercials, not "uncut" episodes), scheduling them in "mini-marathons" [four to six episodes], and eliminating the closing credits in favor of a small, rapid superimposed list of names at the bottom of the screen, as the final moments of the episode's last scene plays itself out [that may be acceptable on current sitcoms, but not "classic" ones!!!].

Except for "HOT IN CLEVELAND" (or one of their newer comedies), I rarely, if ever, watch TV LAND at all. I don't want to, especially if they don't treat "classic TV" with the same respect {and irreverence} as they first did, 15 years ago. Back then, they appreciated what they scheduled! Now, they're more interested in attracting the "right demographics" with the right "mix" of programs {who really wants to see repeats of "EXTREME MAKEOVER: HOME EDITION"????}. They just want to make money....not give the viewers what they really want.

Likewise, thank goodness the whole show is now on DVD, uncut. You can watch it on your own time and leisure.

Yeah and NO COMMERCIALS! I would gladly take my ass to my collection and slip the DVD in over watching that TV Land station ran by nothing but a bunch of boobs.

I am also glad its returning to tv even if cut up, I recently was in an accident which caused major spinal cord damage which I have barely been able to move for months now, its not possible for me to get up to put my dvds in the dvd player, but at least I will be able to record them onto my dvr and watch when I want to. Hey like my dad used to say "Getting a lil bit of beaver is better then no beaver at all"
