TVLINE | Why did you decide to make Chuck‘s upcoming fifth season its last?
It seemed to be the way to end it appropriately for the fans who love it, and not get into a situation where it might end or might not end and then it ends and we haven’t concluded the storyline. It gives [producers] a chance to plan for it. I think that’s the best way to do it. TVLINE | You only ordered 13 episodes of Chuck. Any chance you’ll increase that number? I don’t think so. Unless suddenly we have 10 million viewers watching it on Friday night, then it would. http://www.tvline.com/2011/05/nbc-fa...u/#more-217097 |

I've never seen this show but I always planned to. I even blind bought seasons 1 & 2 on DVD (they were $15 each). Now I might as well just wait till the final season is on DVD and watch it as a complete series.

The reason this show was brought back is because it's ten episodes away from 88 (the magical syndication number), and thirteen episodes will bring the show up to a total of 91 episodes. It's also easier to sell into syndication when a show has a proper series finale. The show, technically, will now never be canceled! The writers will wrap up the show within the 13-episode season, and then CHUCK will live on in DVD's, and what I predict will be an unexpected success in syndication on a network such as USA. I honestly do not believe that WB would've given NBC what we all assume was probably an extremely low license fee to air the show unless they had potential buyers lined up for syndication! Even if money is lost by WB now on this fifth season, much more will be gained in syndication dollars and DVD/Blu-Ray sales. |

...this should make Alan Sepinwall, TV critic of the Newark STAR-LEDGER, extremely happy (he seems to be "CHUCK"'s biggest fan in print).

CHuck may not be for everyone, but I've always found it to be a fun and entertaining, well-written show, and I am glad to see that it will get its proper ending.
